People of Forum, I May have cured the PS4 deadzone Issue.

Recommended Posts

Okay so I am just about to reboot my system to see if I can replicate exactly again but here goes.

I tried the new settings, I messed with all the FFB, and I fiddled with all the setup aspects. All made no difference

So...  I changed the steering to the RIGHT analog stick. Went out on track and I didn't have the deadzone, so I thought, wow Codemasters have just knackered up the left analog stick....

So I then went back to my custom controls and changed it back to the LEFT analog stick. AND BAM steering is back to normal NO DEADZONE.

I am now going to reboot to check if it has worked permanently. And I will make a video and YouTube it for full details and display.

I have just done this and am sharing guys, All Y'all who had the same issue, get back to me :D I'm excited

Edit I can't get my video on YouTube, message me if you're struggling to understand what I did/my instructions :P

Sorry, can I ask what deadzone problem people are referring to on the PS4 controller? I'm more of a casual gamer and I haven't noticed any issues with steering, just with the R2 button which didn't seem to fully accelerate the car

EDIT - There are no longer any issues with the R2 button, I tested this last night and the car accelerates the same no matter which button is mapped to the throttle

I had the same issue in terms of acceleration, but with the right analog stick. I'm not sure if the patch has resolved it, fingers crossed ;)

I must be the Village Idiot, but here goes? What, exactly IS the deadzone?I have used the Sony dual shock from day one, and if there is a problem I never noticed it.

I use stock steering settings and race AI only on hard setting.

Maybe I'm such a terrible driver I have not noticed the problem.

Can anyone describe the deadzone?

I was the same up till yesterday, I googled what a deadzone in gaming was! I'll try explain it how I understood it:

Basically, when playing a racing game and  you hold down the left analogue stick just slightly to the left and the car does not actually steer, this is what is known as the deadzone. Put a bit more pressure on the stick and when it starts to steer the car, that is when it is out of the deadzone. A lot of games/ controllers have this as it makes it easier for the gamer to steer without being too sensitive.

So a trigger or stick on a controller may have a deadzone, but I've never noticed anything on the DS4 controller for PS4, I have noticed that the R2 trigger doesn't fully accelerate the car though (not sure if this counts as a deadzone issue or not)

It's something to do with having a Custom controller profile from before 1.02 I think.

Can anyone who had the steering deadzone, confirm this fix has worked for them too as it did myself? :)

how far you move the stick to the left or right before it kicks in and makes the car turn.Less deadzone=over sensitive, car darting from left to right....more deadzone =steering can be sluggish to react.

@unknown113 try changing your setup to one of the presets and then make your custom setup again.

OMG THIS WORKS, YOU'RE BRILLIANT!

Sad thing is I told other people to fix the top speed thing with the exact same "formula" but never tried it myself to fix the steering deadzone...

It's finally fun to drive again...

For CM people; the bug seems to be in the custom control settings. So either try to fix that or with every patch you remove the custom control settings from the person but you could get more bug reports like that because some people wouldn't realise what happened...

We believe the problem is that the incorrect hidden deadzone was saved to your custom setup when you made prior to this patch. The new patch means the incorrect deadzone isn't added when you rebind the controls but if you don't do that it doesn't make it go away because it's in the saved setup.

Excellent work helping others with this @ipswich1992 , thank you.
