Popular Post marioho
F1 2021 Training Wheels For anyone spinning too much on curbs or having a slippery rear when back on the throttle, two quick tips. Increase your rear toe. The rear axle runs with toe in, meaning the wheels are angled so that they point in across the car. This makes the car more lenient with throttle application i.e. more stable as the driven wheels are also working to keep the car "together". This will help you put more power down quicker and will make the car less skittish when riding curbs. Don't hesitate in running with an absurd amount of rear toe for a lap or two until you get comfortable with the handling and/or the track. Increase your ride height. F1 2021 now simulates the underfloor generated downforce whereas before it would only model the downforce generated by the bodywork. So whenever you unsettle your platform too much or bottoms out when cresting a hill or riding a curb, you'll lose a ton of grip in a heartbeat. By increasing the ride height you'll give more clearance to your suspension springs. Start with high values here and trim them down bit by bit. Rethink your lines and inputs. It's nothing but a sweet summer delusion to think that F1 cars can go full throttle on any curb they desire without a care in the world. The best tip I can think of is to take a "leisure lap" or two while considering the following. By leisure lap I mean going slow, 40-80% effort until you learn your entries, apexes, and angles. Did you spin? Fire up the instant replay/flashback, select the chase camera and check if you did not put a foot wrong in there. Modulate the throttle. Throttle is not a binary on/off switch; the game registers every step of throttle input from 0 to 100%. If you're about to mount a curb, ease off the throttle a bit and find your limit lap after lap. You've got four wheels. And every single one of them is outputting a massive effort towards tractioning your car around the tarmac. Do not unsettle your ride by mounting a curb with a single wheel or by putting rubber on the grass or painted strip. Those surfaces are way less grippier than tarmac. If you're going to ride over a curb to open up your line or whatever, be smooth with the steering and try to get as gentle an angle of attack as possible. 4 7
PTC
Thank you so much for this. Just a doubt to choose the best AI difficulty. In F1 2021 will we select which car to make this adjustment? Sorry for my English, I'm Brazilian. Thank you friend.

Personally, I use Mercedes/Bottas and try to barely beat Hamilton. In F2, pick any car, but F2 cars are harder to drive than F1 so you might have a different difficulty.
marioho
@PJTierney my sunshine my pride, was wondering this earlier. On your own Beginner Tips video for F1 2021 you suggest running a qually session with Bottas to assess the AI level using Hamilton's time as a parameter. However: Assuming that Pace is king in a qualification session, wouldn't it be fitter to go with McLaren and aim to get the closest time possible to your teammate? In the game they're more well matched. And McLaren clearly is the prettier car – that gotta count!
Shill360IOM
I hope you can help - I'm really struggling trying to find where I enable simulation practice on my team career mode. It doesnt give me the option to choose this. I go into the first race weekend practice and I can only go straight to the track when I choose one of the practice programs. Any ideas folks ? marioho
@Shill360IOM in the Settings screens, the one with various tabs, I think it sits under Weekend Structure.

I always *knew* someone had to be responsible for the OP Bottas performance we have in the game since over a year now. I should have know that was you 😛😄❤️ Thanks for the guide!

Your team career car should be one of the cars you can select in Time Trial - select 2021 cars and scroll to the right and it is after all the existing teams. My theory was that by using Bottas you should be able to just barely win a race if you do everything right and have no mistakes, as you'd be racing against both Hamilton and Verstappen. Norris v Ricciardo is a good alternative though.
marioho
@TwistedWays heh, I commented on the video when it came out as Youtube seemed it fit to recommend it to me: Quote Good video, but the overtake mode could use some revising. The ERS won't deliver power to the crankshaft on race starts before the car has reached 100kph. That's on the FIA technical regulations (appendix 3) and David Greco from Codemasters has confirmed that this is also the case for the games for a while now. So starting with the Overtake function on has no effect until you've reached that speed - usually on 2nd or 3rd gear. The tip is still valid, as the player has to take the 160bhp extra the MGU-K is delivering from that moment on if he launches the car with the OT mode on, but it's not doomed to jinx his start.
Social Media & Community Team PJTierney Posted August 3, 2021 Author Social Media & Community Team Share Posted August 3, 2021 After analysing a few of Jarno Opmeer's starts I do it a little differently now. Hold at 12-13,000 rpm (main thing is throttle at 25%) Immediately shift to 2nd Keep adding more throttle and short-shifting until full-throttle, then hit Overtake. 1

Been trying to get better off the starts, though I'm typically at the speed of those around me, it would be nice to get a jump from time to time. Will try this out. I think the biggest challenge is remembering the steps in the moment when the lights go out and there's a hundred things happening at once. Social Media & Community Team PJTierney Posted August 11, 2021 Author Social Media & Community Team Share Posted August 11, 2021 FYI, those values are based off the beep you hear when you turn on the Upshift Tone in the audio options 🙂 Essentially, I drove slowly down a straight, steadily rising the RPM until I heard the beep, and marked where it was.

Since it is a rather important aspect for performance, it would be great if players could tune that to their needs, or if at least it would work as flawless as it did back in F1 2020. Thanks again for all the insights in your instructional videos 👍
slthree
Let's see if anyone can help me with a "my team" problem. I was getting a lot of messages from Jeff about putting too much pressure on my power unit (or something like that). By the time I get to the race I have to change several components and take a grid penalty. If these things are supposed to take me through six races without a penalty, what am I doing wrong that I had to replace them for race 4? slthree
1 hour ago, FTBuzzard said: when did you replace the components, i.e. how many percent wear and tear, did you skip some racing sessions? It was after qualifying for my 4th race. I was retired (DNF) from Race 3 with just 4 laps to go. Practice1 and Practice 2 for race 4 went fine. But, it was Practice 3 when I kept getting warnings from Jeff about being to hard on the engine and I lost use of a gear. I qualified 10th but I knew I had issues with something mechanical. When I progressed to the race (I believe 32 laps at RBR. I'm on 50% race length) I noticed that the components only had like 20ish laps left. I wanted to finish the races because I didn't want to DNFs in a row. I changed the gear box 1st because that was shot. But it wasn't enough. The tab just before that one had like 5 things that also needed new units. I took a 5 grid penalty. That doesn't necessarily bother me because starting 15th is something I can live with. My problem is that I don't know what I'm doing wrong to put such wear and tear on these items when they are supposed to last for six full races. Should I not be doing the full 60 minute practice sessions? I do notice that I turned more laps per session than the AI drivers.
