The physics this year making the cars airborne

Recommended Posts

More than any other game in the series the cars are going airborne with no explanation, especially near kerbs. Im not complaining about the kerbs for spinning, I'm just talking about the actual weird physics that's going on. Here's a link and watch the Red bull hit a pretty flat section and it gets launched, no real aggressive kerb or camber it just takes off. I've seen this on multiple tracks in different races the cars seem to just 'jump' Never seen so many cars flying through the air doing barrel rolls either after hitting walls or other cars until this year, tons of videos on reddit showing that lol

Its like the game this year has an invisible springboard that just randomly launch cars up unrealistically

Ain't it just a rare (and probably unintended) occurrence or are cars actually taking off that often?

I have yet to sink a considerable amount of hours in this game but this has not been my experience at all.

So this looks like photomode and you have manipulated the image. This looks not like the physic of the game. I´ve never gone airborne like this in more than 100 hours in the ps5 version of the game. I see no videos on you tube that someone goes airborne like this. I can see you use the photomode, because of the depth of field and motion blur.

Is this a joke ?

Are you using a mod to reduce the car weight ?

In this corner it looks like a big driving issue of yourself.
Did you have contact with the rear wheels of another car. Than this is normal in real life too.

For me it looks like a mod. Someone has tested an older mod of f1 2020 with the new game. They are bumps in the tracks austria and spain and I´ve wondered while I go not airborne. How he set the height of the car. It is normal if you set the height to high that air comes under the car and can go airborne in some situations.

It is a funny video, but I think it is a fake.

I've seen quite some videos of the same on Reddit. It didn't happen to me, but it does happen.

A video for looking at the issue were the better opinion.

How about you actually read the OP and click the link in the original post to the video before mouthing off

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen that happen before.  However I have noticed in some collisions sometimes that cars seem more airborne than before.  I've had some wicked crashes at Paul Ricard when I try to shut the door on the AI way too late down the back stretch.  It's nice to see in those situations but not in the video above.  😄

Turn 8 at Sochi is hilarious if the Ai get pushed offline there or you are in an online race and somebody catches the kerb fast, cars turn into jet fighters thru the air lol

The kerbs etc have been made riskier this years which is fine. The issue seems to be at points the 'jump/bump' you get is overdone

You can only achieve that if you are trying to make the cars go airborne on purpose because i have been playing this game for 30 hours and this hasnt happened to me

In the video it is the AI (Perez) driving that does that, simply goes over a pretty flat area watch the video linked in OP. Maybe you should see this thread too

In Bahrain, on the straight between turns 10 and 11, if you drive with 2 wheels off the track (esports line), there's a bump somewhere around the middle of the straight which makes the car jump slightly. It doesn't really matter, but this definitely wasn't happening in previous games. It's somewhat similar to the bump on the kerb that leads into turn 1 in Spain.

You're almost suggesting it's on purpose there

Times it seems the physics in this game would have a "bounce back" or "explosive" attitude. During the forum championship Canada race my car was hit in the back by my teammate. There was an accident ahead so we both were not going fast, he was a tad faster than me though. The force he hit my back with was rather minor and should, if at all, have damaged his front wing. Instead upon the contact, my car leaped forward with great force, "jumping" into the back of the car in front of me, and so I lost my front spoiler as well. It can be seen in this video clip here, which is taken from the forum championship section. He has had an instable web connection, when that happened. Maybe, these errors have something to to with missing information due to disconnects?

Watch from 1.20.54 roughly look at team Alfa Romeo:

This is the very same issue as in the recent "Jarno Opmeer" thread where he says "there is something wrong with this game".

It seems that between track and curb there is a very thin notch, which allows the wheel to "drop into a hole" when perfectly aligned with the center of the wheel. Something is wrong there with the collision calculation between wheel, track and curb. This thread should be moved to the "report issues" section and examined by the devs @BarryBL thank you!

Looks like a few tracks have a "terrain mesh" issue, as I'd like to call it - where this weird stuff happens. I saw something similar happening in Spain, curb before Turn 1 (with default setup no less, not to mention other variations of setups...).

@Bauer the one in Monaco is accurate, though? Or is it launching people to the air too?

There's another notorious bump there that the game also gets right, right after T4 on the Casino at the start of the linking straight to Mirabeau T5. Rosberg even makes a point of including it on his track guide:

Seems to me, someone ****** up overworking the curbs on several tracks, maybe? I d appreciate if Codemasters acknowledged that there is a problem and that they are looking into it. It is obvious that your wheels can be caught by invisible holes here and there and send you flying. This gives the whole curb discussion a new aspect^^.

Ok, sorry guys that was my fault. I know trust you. Have those bump on mexico and russia. My car goes airborne. I´m really sorry. I have another strange thing. Car spins on some corner exit without giving to much throttle. Very strange it differs from round to round.

I have this on Zaandfoort and Spa very often   (Time Trial PS5 and PC)

I´m looking sometimes Jarno Opmeer and TRL Limited and Jarno has a lot of problems with the game and the bumbs on track.
I´m sure this will be fixed, I hope that a real F1 driver like Lando Norris have the same issues and they do something for the bumps. Lando is playing F1 2021. You can see it on the quadrant you tube channel. I don´t like this childish channel, but lando is driving there.

I´m to old for this channel. 😉
