Team Meeting - Dnote's Notes 01/10/15

Recommended Posts

I don't mind hoppers, not ideal but that's what we've got... I understand stripping it down to get more players but it would be nice to do more than 5 laps,  I'd like to see just a couple more hoppers with random weather and more laps

Penalties: Technically, this system is working as intended.

In previous games we had the option to set penalties to realistic, reduced, corner-cutting only, & off. Why was this option removed? It seems unreasonable to remove something that was available in previous games.

...So, in short, while I will push to get this work done for F1 2015 and patched in that's not going to be an easy fight to win and if we can do it it's not going to appear quickly. I know that's rubbish but that's the reality here I'm afraid.

When will CodeMasters deliver a reality that isn't "rubbish" for customers?

CodeMasters has been developing multi-platform racing games for nearly 20 years, yet with all that experience, quality declines further with every release: recent CM games have been increasingly defective at launch, with slow/unresponsive post-launch support, along with defensive/helpless/hopeless replies from staff & community managers...

...The story is always the same: "It's out of our hands - there just isn't the time & budget for it. Hopefully the next game will be better." (...yet the next game has even more & bigger issues.)

Is CodeMasters in business solely to ship products that satisfy requirements for licensors, shareholders/owners, accountants, platform providers, partners, distributors, and/or marketers?

Are customers even on the list of considerations when CodeMasters does its budgeting & scheduling?

of course not , that's why we all complaints about problems that never been fixed.
they just rely on casual players that play this game 2 weeks , do the more trophies they can and do it again next year.

hardcore players or league racers are a minority and the work need to give them a zero bugs game costs too much resources, so they just leave it
like this and hope they buy the future release.

i'd boycott codies en-masse

I aint bought a codies game since 2012 and don't think I will in the future, the problem is they have the f1 license and lots of people will buy the official (laughs) game whoever makes it and whatever state its in.

Every time I get to Q1 in my season Maldonado gets a blocking pit road DSQ. I followed him around to see & he did nothing wrong & still got DSQed. It's happened now 5 times. Please fix.
Which track is this on
When I erase my data completely and start over again, after the newest update, it happens at the first race in championship mode. Now that I've gone further with it I have found that it gets Grosjean in Q3.  I haven't gone any further with it cause it would do it every time. When I load in an older version saved season and start again it doesn't do it, only when I start from scratch. So to answer your question only Melbourne so far.

Drivers AI;
- It is awesome, better AI of all F1 games, hands down, but sometimes some cars is hitting behind us with no sense and with no reason.
- I miss some drivers mistakes too, sometimes two drivers are fighting theirs position and they do around ten corners side by side and I never see they crashing or even touch in another car, breaking his front wings or something like that.
- Every single car takes the same trial on track, it is unreal and horrible to see. I know there's a best trial to do for you improve your lap time, but if you watch real F1 each driver drivers at his own trial, even it almost the same.

Thank you for your support

I totally agree with you on this. And yes, I absolutely hate to see every single car using the same racing line, it bothers me as hell because we, the "Human" are the only ones who go differently. Why can't they make AI have different race lines too? I remember like F1 2010 had cars doing that...

Not to mention AI mistakes like taking corners too wide, etc

I've seen AI spin each other out. Usually caused when they go side by side, touch, and lock into each other's wheels.

Dnote, please can you advise on full practice sessions in quick race mode please?

The fact you haven't even mentioned this is worrying.

What hasn't helped the situation is codemasters have been tripping over themselves since 2012 The AI and human player are unable to go wheel to wheel all because of a stupid sidepod glitch where the player and AI spins out

I just did another Melbourne qualifying and Maldonado got DSQed in Q1 Nasr got DSQed in Q2 and Grojean got DSQed in Q3. All for blocking pit lane. Now it's getting worse.

Those options are something that didn't get implemented for this game it's something that I raised internally a little while back.

So, on the subject of hoppers and doing what we can with what we have at the moment to make your experience better, if we removed the AI from Standard and Hardcore and removed the assist restrictions from Hardcore would that be better than what we have now?

It was a decision made a while back for reasons I cannot remember now. I noticed it wasn't available the other day, I'll see if I can get that reinstated because to me personally it doesn't make sense to not have it in Quick Race so the player can decide exactly what they want.

Regarding the hoppers it certainly couldn't hurt to try that but not sure if it would help or not as I simply can never find anyone in the hardcore hopper.Another question I have regarding the standard or sprint hopper why is the damage set to realistic in those when it was visual only in the previous games I ask because as you may or may not know this is the domain of the rammer people who buy the game and for reasons unfathomable to me only wish to crash into people, now as this is pretty much the only form of multiplayer that I can play right now it's really annoying to constantly have to pit for a new front wing on lap 1 all the time?

It's all well and good criticising those who are angry that in season updates have now been binned, but it was one of the main pre-release marketing spiels. To suddenly state it is too difficult is quite frankly disgraceful. I don't pay to go and see a film only to reach ten minutes from the end and the screen goes black and I'm told to use my imagination for the ending! These games are not cheap, I would rather pay £10 more per game if I knew that game was made with fewer bugs because that extra £10 per game meant that they could hire either more coders or more to the point more proficient coders.

To the many that say, thanks for the honesty after months of enduring a sub-standard pile of steam you are the reason these games are the way they are. You roll over and accept that you have been mugged. I obtained a refund a month ago from Sony as my argument that a game marketed as being online capable clearly wasn't. No amount of Sony telling me it was my job to pursue Codemasters allowed me to accept that I should just sit back and allow myself to be made a fool out of.

Yes, Codemasters are working hard to fix the bugs, wow wee I'm so grateful... I couldn't care if they don't see their families for the next six months, when you release a product stating it will do A) B) & C) and it only does A) then you only have yourselves to blame for the inevitable backlash.

I think it was obvious that attention would eventually turn to F1 2016, but I think given the shocking sales and likely lower 2016 sales with any luck Codies can't afford the license renewal and it goes to a developer that can actually do the sport some justice....

Here's to a Codies free F1 2017

Could you please FINALLY add an realistic damage system (including mechanical failures) to the list for F1 2016?
It annoys me that you said 'an realistic'.
Sorry for not being a native trying to speak your language. Next time I will write in perfect German.
You speak EXCELLENT English my friend!

So it "just isn't feasible" for the game's creators to fix it with their "commitment to providing another game next year?"

There is a difference between fixing and adding/changing. We're fixing the game, what more we can do on top of that is and always was, going to be limited.
How about you guys dont put out a game that is broken , unfinished and full of bugs ! Even your new graphic engine is a mess .

during practice sessions that the light is always red even when pit lane is open should be green
Yeah we're aware of that . My understanding is that to fix it we would need to change each track and that's a LOT of data so it's not going to happen this year.

Pleasa, don't change AI. The Battle with The cpu, this year, are epic!!!

This franchise has had the best AI I've ever seen (far from perfect), and in F1 2015 they got even better (in battling). But it could be better. At the moment, they never move to the inside to defend.
