Multiplayer - Top Issues

Hi,

We're aware that there is more work that needs to be done on multiplayer, to help us focus that effort and prioritise the work, can you list your top 5 issues that you have experienced in multiplayer, along with what platform you are playing on.

We may ask for more information, we may ask to participate in a race with you, we may tell you it's working as intended, but we need this information in one place that is easy to see and read, and that doesn't go off on tangents.

Feel free to be as detailed with your post as you like, but please keep it to a maximum of 5 issues per person.

Any off-topic posts will be removed.

Xbox one- fix the lag spikes caused by people leaving the lobby & disconnecting. REMOVE HOPPERS, bring back custom public lobbies. Fix the fuel glitch in qually when drivers are forced to drive with 100KG of fuel. Parc ferme glitch when drivers are locked to the default setup even when parc ferme is turned off.

for f1 2016 I expect 22 car grids for online & dedicated servers

1,corner cutting,there seems to be no limit in most areas online

2,parcferme,wen loaded into the garage SOME aren't able to load in a set up 

3,weather forecast,a race weekend forecast rather than just this session 

I feel these fixes and we could league race. Stability seemed ok wen we tested post patch! 

I will add more I've just not played it in ages and would help in anyway possible,as would our Racers waiting to league race ;)

I echo what LGS said and think these should be absolute priority fixes.There is also an issue that I've experienced on multiple occasions where I've been given an illegal overtake when cars have crashed directly in front of me and yellow flags have came out instantly and I can't allow the person back past because they've crashed so receive a penalty.

To clarify we're aware of a number of issues, we're talking bugs here, not functionality so lets leave hoppers and public servers out of this conversation please. So our top five would be, in no particular order.
  • Parc Ferme rules being applied incorrectly in qualifying.
  • Fuel sometimes being locked to 100kg in qualifying.
  • Players who qualify outside the top ten do not have free tyre choice at the start of a race.
  • Lag spikes on Xbox One when people join and leave a lobby.
  • Corner cutting is generally too lenient.

Does that list look like a good set of priorities for now? If not what should and shouldn't be on there.

1. Qualifying laps in which was cutted should be "deleted"
2. Freeze Bug
3. 100kg in qualifying 
4. Parc ferme rules being applied incorrectly in Q

1. Corner Cuts and Track Extensions too lenient on hot laps/clean air laps, but too harsh when forced to cut/run off track to avoid an incident, or a slight 2 wheels off cut when two cars are side by side fighting a position.
2. Parc Ferme inconsistencies, some can and some cant change setup, or else fuel is blocked to 100% race fuel for qualifying.
3.Yellow flag penalties for passing a car(s) which has crashed.
4. Wheel to wheel racing, severe rubber banding and de-synching issues - trying to run behind a guy who appears to be swerving onto the grass on either side of the track, or occasionally flying or pogo-ing into the air.
5. Screen tear/FPS issues about the centre line of the screen, becomes worse when someone joins or leaves.

Mentioned a few in previous post but my top 5 would be:
1 setups not being applied other than in time trials
2 stricter corner cutting application for qualifying, I understand the explanation in other posts with respect to the complexities of racing incidents, accidents etc but qualifying should really be as strict as time trial with respect to track limits
3 general lag and de-sync issues
4 stability, having stable lobbies with people not being kicked without cause or reason
5 sometimes when asking xbox to 'record that' the computer takes control of car as you've technically left game temporarily (which is fine) other times car is not taken over by computer and crashes. Just need consistency...

@Dnote @Lozzy @Britpoint it would be cool if the xbox can automatically record gameclips whenever you get a penalty. It would help make better stewarding decisions for league racing. Please consider adding this

Really, the only thing that is making multiplayer entirely unplayable for leagues right now is all the connectivity issues.  The mass disconnects when one driver disconnects, the desync etc.  I explained what we encountered in one of the PRL PC tests here (XB1 has been similar):  http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/20024/precision-racing-league-pc-multiplayer-report

There are plenty other issues, but until this is fixed, there's no point even focusing on anything else.

Thank you all for your feedback. I'll make that list six items then.

  • Players being kicked from the session while on track.
  • Parc Ferme rules being applied incorrectly in qualifying.
  • Fuel sometimes being locked to 100kg in qualifying.

First, I am playing on the PC and driving in a german league, we were driving 4 races already with 18 Minutes of Qualifying and 50% race distance.

I think the first and second point, especially the second point has to do something with driving a race, leaving the race midtime or driving it to the end and joining after that into a new session, then you have 100kg, thats what many people in my german league experienced, thats why we all always restart the game before we open and join the custom lobby for the league race (thats our fix).

The third point you mentioned is true, we experienced that too, I experienced it in the china league race starting from 11 without beeing able to change the tyres from options to primes.

Your fourth point is also a problem on PC, mostly in an other way, we experienced that if someone(not a specific person, just one of the drivers in the session) gets disconnected from the session some seconds afterwards nearly everyone get kicked out of the session, therefore we need to restart the whole session again. Thats a huge problem, it happens not always but several different people, if one of them disconnects everyone gets kicked out.
Always if someone disconnects you have to beg that you dont lose the connection as well and if you lose it then you rage against the game and how this can be possible after several years of development.

The fifth point is 100% true, I dont know if I have to make a video about that but really, its too lenient on nearly every track and corner.
For example on Bahrain if you start the third sector you can go on the first right turn more than one car breadth, just test every corner by yourself, get a good driver at your hands, let him "cut to the limit".

What we also mentioned is that if you try to use the voice command system ingame like that you get a freeze for several seconds.
What we also experienced is the weird collision system in the game, small contact and you spun or fly away.

ABS is supposed to be off as the session host configured it to be off yet it can be activated in session by users which gives drivers advantage in braking and gain time.

Biggest issue that I can see is when you made settings in Custom lobby. There is not possible to choose Full qualifying. That is very important. There is only One-shot and short qualifying.

Just a suggestion. The second race you jump into what's it called hardcore or calendar greats change the settings from one shot qualify to short Qualify with 25% race distance if we can't have lobby lists as in the past we can have some sort of custom GP we have gotten used to

one of the main issues our league has is penalties at random times. ps4.
quite often a car has crashed and is off track, you pass it and get a penalty! cars off track CAN be passed in real life, always. you just cant stop on track!
other examples are are entering the pit lane in barcelona.

  1. Corner Cutting 
  2. Netcode stability on track. Other player cars do not appear to drive smoothly like in previous games. Lots of small lag spikes/warping
  3. One person quits or gets kicked = the game becomes unplayable.
  4. Setup menu broken. Parc Ferme, fuel glitches etc
  5. Yellow flags waving in certain sectors all race

1 ) Problems of lag , you see cars flying , chefalsano its position going back and forth , just before they are away and then immediately after the six on , drivers who see them go off track but it is not true , shortly after you reappear front !
2 ) by 8 riders up in a room , it increases very groups the possibility to be disconnected
3 ) issue full of gasoline in qualifying
4 ) issue of the cuts in qualifying , the weather is held valid even if those who made ​​it to cut the track !!
5 ) problems penalty cuts in the race , both inside of the curve , and outside of the curve , you're too permissive , in circuits like Sochi Mexico ecc.si can do everything and not good !!

Please do priorotise fixing the de-sync issues and the stability of online wheel to wheel racing. This is a fundamental element which is needed for everyone to run in sync as much as possible, like F1 2013, 2012.

Really important for the enjoyment of racing in leagues as much as the casual online lobby. Please do not neglect this issue :)

PS4 here; On some of the issues we just started to work around them and can avoid them or "work with them", but there are some things mentioned already that are interesting that I'll also mention (I'll probably write something more in depth later on);

The track limits is an obvious one, but I understand from posts that it isn't that easy to implement or that you wanna make the game for a broader audience (make different modi?) but that's not really what I wanna talk about here as those are already mentioned; the thing is, penalties, warnings, whatever, they aren't consistent. Sometimes you get a warning when other times doing a bigger cut you don't get one, on the other hand, getting "ridiculous" (I never find it ridiculous when you disobbey track limits ^^) time penalties for like crossing the finish line outside of the track or stuff like that. And in some rare cases the warningsystem is even too harsh but again not consistent.

I don't know exactly if there is anything wrong with the blue flag, but the yellow flag isn't really league friendly or realistic even, while it was actually ok (as far as I can remember) in previous games; when you pass a guy who's gone off track, you get a penalty (if you don't give the place back), if you pass a guy furter than the "incident", there is still a yellow flag and you get a penalty.

Probably the main thing is idd the little desync issues (I don't know how to exactly explain it in the correct coding terms). Some people play it and say it's horrible with lag while they are the ones with wifi playing or whatever (I don't really listen if I hear someone saying to see lag when he's playing with wifi), that's not what I mean, nor do I mean that in some cases even with the perfect nets, the servers can cause a little incorrectness if you will. Or maybe I do mean that last with those little desync issues; what I mean by it is that the car on one screen isn't a 100% on the same place as it is on another screen. These are in the game itself and hasn't got something to do with lag (or it's got to do with servers). It's not the teleporting (wether big or not) thing I'm talking about but seriously when there is no lag, there is still a difference if you compare footage

As I said, we pretty much work around anything and adjust our rules for league racing around it, so we're having a great time, but ideally we wanna see them fixed, not only because it would make the game even better, but just so we would have more confidence in the product and in what we're doing...

Please re-instate the Co-op Championship option. I can't imagine some sort of system where we can at the very least be able to save a season that has been set up online between two friends, can be too hard. I have set up a petition to highlight this issue and make sure Codemasters get the message.

For PC...
1. Desync, desync, desync, desync... This has been so bad from day 1 that I have NEVER been able to complete a race distance due to cars slamming into me when thay were milliseconds ago 10 car lengths ahead or behind. Or passing what looks like your friend 4 times per lap (on screen, every single race track) yet in reality they are over 10sec ahead and counting as you are still passing "their car" multiple times a lap!!!! This is totally unacceptable! 
2. Make harsh corner cutting penalties
3. Fix the car setup issues
4. Weekend weather forecast not simply a session forecast
5. A way to save a "friend championship" with points etc. Co op championship anyone?
