You mean this kind of stutter?

Unplugging, and re-plugging, and re-calibrating my G27 did not fix the issue!
Did you re-calibrate it this way:
From the Min Menu select Options & Extras,....lower right.
Select Controls,....upper left.
Choose Preset, select Logitech G27 and CONFIRM!
Select Advance Wheel Settings after it returns to the previous menu.
Scroll down to the where it shows: Soft Lock, Center Steering and Calibrate Device,..and Load/Save Device Configuration.
Select Calibrate Device,.....follow and complete ALL the calibration prompts.
Turn steering full right against its stop and press a button.
Turn steering right about 900 degrees and press a button.
Depress each pedal full travel one at a time (100 degrees),...press a button.
Apply Settings.
Tab down once to Load/Save Device Configuration.
Enter a save profile name,....press a button.

Or you can try using Codies' guide:

Mine was more of a very rhythmic micro stutter, repetitive every 3-4 seconds that just ruined control.

I skipped the choose preset - and cofirm, and did the rest from there, but really - that shouldn't change diddly squat!

So we have 2 different stutter/freeze problems. If someone could record the one you describe and post it on here it would give Codies videos of both types, they already have a few videos of the type in mine.

Ahhhhh,...but you don't know if it loads a new config file from the .8 patch versus loading the previous save!? There is no way to confirm a fix if you take short cuts,...there goes repeat ability and confirmation.

The fix has worked for a few gamers here and on the Steam forums and we are back enjoying the game. Up to you.

That I do understand, but won't it automagically create a new config file anyway, as i DO recalibrate the thing.

Anyway,  video coming up, with FPS and all for Mr. SkiddyMcCrash

Here is my kind of stuttering, will be in better quality when youtube is finished processing it - FPS counter in top right corner should be possible to see then! ^^,

It isn't for me, I'll post it in the test driver forum and when anyone says they've got stuttering we can ask them which video is like theirs to avoid confusion ;)

Well, I understood that, but as you are "the guy" in this thread, it is for you :)

Now in 1080p60fps as well. Or, mostly 60fps... ^^,

And to elaborate a bit. Each time it stutters, it feels like the grip, and car status is reset. If I am powersliding, with a slight opposite lock, and get a stutter, the car suddenly just takes off to the way I have my wheel. Like everything resets, and the game doesn't recognize the slide or anything anymore.
Of course that might be because of the stutter, and me missing the inputs for that stutter period, but it looks like it, and feels like it on the wheel.

Lack of steering input during frame drop? I'll add your description to your vid over there ;)

Ye, it feels like the steering is reacting to it. If I'm in the process of turning when it happens, it kinda feels like it stutters along.

That stutter is nothing compared to what I was getting,...mine was constant. Yours happens three at a time with small pauses, then happens again in the next 15 seconds or so. Is your HHD light flashing during the pauses?

The video compression actually removed a lot of the micro stutters I was getting. I didn't look to see what the HDD was up to. I've since reinstalled...

Graphics drivers,
drt.exe,
the standard core map,
GeForce Experience drivers,
and then I reconfigured Nvidia Inspector and retweaked Nvidia Control Panel because I was getting shocking tearing after the fresh installs

The game now seems to be running smoothly again like it did before 0.8.

I have no way of seeing the lights, unless there are any program that can "transfer" that to the screen.

But then again, it only happens in DiRT Rally and only after the update.

Find the line <threadStrategy workerMapFile="system/workerMap.xml"
forceFeedbackProcessor="0" dvdStorageProcessor="0" dataSetMonitorProcessor="0"
renderProcessor="0" updateProcessor="0" fileStreamProcessor="0"/>

then change it to <threadStrategy workerMapFile="system/workerMap8Core.xml"
forceFeedbackProcessor="6" dvdStorageProcessor="7" dataSetMonitorProcessor="4"
renderProcessor="0" updateProcessor="2" fileStreamProcessor="5" />
...............

Can anyone answer what the other lines do in that setting, i understand the map8core file reference, but the others seem like they'd be specific to other system settings, as opposed to just the CPU stuff.

No, that's not the same. See below. It's kind of hard to capture with game capture, but you can hear when I disconnect and connect the wheel. IRL it's silky smooth whenever the wheel isn't connected and as soon as I connect it, there's that rythmic stutter which is much worse than the video shows.

I actually got rid of it one time after re-calibrating it but at the next restart of the game it was back again and re-calibrating does nothing now. Very confusing. Still no word from Codemasters on this?

I'm interested in the work map fix, mine seems fine for the most part, but I'm not using the 8 core map per the settings file.

Based on previous Codmasters games and the 8Core file it 's supposed to assign a specific task to each processor,...balancing the load.

Right,  but that's contained in the map file, I'm talking about the settings in the same section that calls for that map file.

Yeah! The second video was the one I had,...totally unplayable. Do you run any molded system files? If you do delete them , including the ones in your Documents\My Games folder and use Steam to verify cache. Once updated re-calibrate completely. Did it work?
I also found that modding some of the files could cause a Racent login connect error.

I discovered another bug. The controller menu save/load setting does NOT save the Logitech calibration/profile. Did a fresh reload of Dirt yesterday to confirm, it stays while you're in the game but today when I relaunched Dirt,...my saved profile/calibration was no longer there to reload! :(

There are three 'stutters' as I see it:

A - Periodic Microstutter, (every 1-2 seconds) - (Happens everywhere, in menus, and in race).
B - Weird Timewarp - comes and goes - (only seen in race).
C - General framerate issues - (only seen in race).

For people experiencing A - Periodic Microstutter, could you please try running the game with no internet connection?

I've also seen the game do weird things — on my home computer — after an update, and pick the wrong refresh rate. Please try changing resolution, then revert back to your preferred resolution and refresh rate - and report back if that fixes anything.

Keep the feedback coming, and we'll keep looking into it.
