PS4- Engine always Overheating no matter what?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this has already been mentioned in the forums although it's likely, but no matter what I seem to do on F1 2015 the engine temperature goes completely off the scale for no apparent reason. Is there a fix to this or a workaround of some sort? It leaves me with absolutely no power on any straights and cars always fly past me regardless if it's equal cars online, 2015 performance when in a Mercedes or anything, hopefully someone knows how to solve this, many thanks.

Are you guys on the latest patch? I've not experienced this once despite running in rich for majority of the race.

I wonder if it may be linked to assists? What assists are you using?

Never had this myself - other than increased temp when following. Assuming you're using Manual gear changes, you guys shift before going into the redline?

It has been here since 1.04 on the PS4, and it has not changed. I was actually one of the first ones to recognize it, only I didn't post it here..

Ricciardo's enginner said: "Follow the beeps Daniel": I use cockpit cam and almost no hud, except for laptimes, and I shift just as the purple/blue beam hits the last beep.

This problem has been there since patch 1,03 actually. I noticed when I did a quick race as Alonso at Monza: The engine was overheating even in heavy rain conditions, running lean mix, while short shifting.. It stayed dark red on the OSD, for lap after lap while doing all that so there's really nothing you can do.

Does this issue occur from the start of a race or does it take a number of laps to happen?

for me personally it happens when following another car (online) it doesnt happen to automatic gear users, it happens whenever running behind someone, nothing helps e.g short shifting etc

I've noticed that when in standard or rich mix it tends to overheat; same when running behind other cars. It happens more often in the rain in standard mix, and the only way to get it back to green is putting it into lean.

Hey guys, was away from the forums for a while, I only use auto gears but it seems to be constant at every race track on standard mix and sometimes lean, it's online with most recent patch and seems to only happen to me out of the guys who race in the same league as me. I seem to get it even when alone on track and tried everything to stop it, but it still happens every race. More often then not it's the opening lap onwards and takes a long time to disappear on lean mix, only for it to immediately happen again upon going onto standard mix.

Okay so I tried the Russian GP event with manual gears and no other assists, yet the same problem happens despite short shifting at least 90% of the time, I honestly don't know what's causing it but it's ruining any enjoyment I have of this game.

Any response to this issue Codies? Have you found a cause yet and can we expect a fix? It seems very easy to reproduce.

We've looked in to this but not seen it occur. Are people who are seeing this using car setups? Does anyone have a video of this happening? Preferably from the start of the race, it would be helpful to see that to see if you're doing something we're not.

I am using custom setups in an online lobby. It happens during all sessions, practise, quali and 50% race. When running close to a car in front the temperature indicator goes yellow and then into orange/red if running on standard fuel mix as well as rich.

I will try and get some footage of this during our next race if I can.

Just go into a quick race on the PS4. Start mid pack and follow the ai around in standard. By lap 2 the engine will be red. Spinning the rear wheels up seems to progress the engine to red quicker so maybe the problem is there. Maybe worth testing with traction control on vs off

I'm on ps4, latest patch. I use pad, traction control and auto gears. Not once has my engine gone red no matter what fuel mix I use

I'm on a wheel with no assists so this is good information for the developers to help narrow it down. My engine goes red every race if I'm not in clean air.

That's supposed to happen, isn't it? Sucking in the hot air of the car in front for any length of time is going to overheat your engine regardless of what fuel mix you're running.

I use the same setup/options and my engine is red constantly, even during practice!

Okay so I had a league race last night and used auto gears and had TC on medium, and in clear air it wasn't as bad but even so, it still occurred at times meaning I was being swamped down straights by guys who were a second off in qualifying. Once the engine goes red, you're done, even if in clear air after a stop, because I already had it happen, I had no power despite a green engine temperature and the next car being a good 10 seconds clear for a few laps before everyone stopped. If you're in dirty air for just a few seconds, it's basically game over.

@Lozzy For me this problem is very noticeable in China, where the engine overheats in specific turns ( The long bend just before the longest DRS Straight ) I've had multiple races where it goes from green to red in that corner, then it cools down again on the straight. This is with no-assists, custom setup, and I tried shortshifting to prevent it but the engine was still overheating. It happens in heavy rain conditions as well.

I tested earlier and it is even more visible in heavy rain conditions. Even short shifting with no car near me the engine was overheating.
