Tips for reducing tyre wear? F1 2015

Recommended Posts

Seems no matter how carefully I drive, my tyres go off about 5 laps before I'm due to pit, every time. What controls tyre wear? Is it car setup or how you drive or is it simply a preset determined number of laps? Any way to make the tyres last a full stint without going orange at least?

It's mostly the way you drive, setups don't make a big difference for me ( maybe 1 lap or so ). But I think it's normal that the tyres go orange for the last couple of laps of a stint, they're not completely worn until they are fully red. What works for me is to reduce the steering angle/input a bit in the fast corners. When you load the tyres up by steering too much at high speed you can feel the controller rumble as well as seeing them heat up too much on the OSD, but when you apply a bit less steering angle you'll notice the rumble won't be there and the tyres won't overheat and last a little longer.

I like to adjust my brake bias to help with tyre wear distribution. If my fronts are wearing out quickly, I use Rear Bias. If my rears are wearing out too quickly, I use Front Bias.

I see this a lot in various leagues that I race in I think people become too preoccupied with looking after the tyres and it makes them slower for me I drive like a maniac take everything out of the tyres that they have to give and can usually do the correct amount of pit stops.I like to push hard in the the first option stint then maybe stretch the prime stint an extra 2 laps if I've had to pit early. So my advice would be to just drive hard take what the tyres have to give and don't worry if the stint length is a little short in the first stint it's better to do 6-7 fast laps then 10-12 laps saving tyres in my opinion.
