Meza994
Hey @BarryBL would you mind sharing with us why you (Codemasters) seem to disregard easy accessable data in terms of realistic car and driver performances? I really dont mean it offensive but utilizing the official speed trap results (counting out obvious slipstream affected speeds) and qualifying results would lead to a way more realistic representation of this Formula 1 season. This wouldnt have taken long to do for the performance update (in terms of drag) and silenced some of the stupid hate you guys get. For example Russels AI is so much slower than he is in real life (in qualifying), it would have given a lot more immersion if Russels qualifying pace was like Hamilton and Tsunodas qualifying pace more like Mazepin (of course differences in car pace) just as very obvious examples. The current values they have are fairly good regarding their race pace IMO but it would make many players happy if quali would be more accurate (perfection is impossible i know that haha) and it should not be so complicated to differentiate between race pace and quali pace ingame🤔. Also the drag (based on speedtraps) can be balanced out with Chassis weight (idealy Aero but the AI would need retraining for that so way too much work now) to keep the performance balance but would result in a much more realistic behavior of speed differences and can be specified for each „downforce level“ by your own system (very low, low, medium and very high) to match as close as possible so that a Haas gets easily passed by a Red Bull on a low downforce track but the Red Bull needs DRS or at least overtake mode to pass a Haas on a medium downforce track like Portimao. As it is a Red Bull flys past the Haas. Thats not a complicated fix and increases realism by a lot! Im just curious why you guys tend to not do such "obvious" things. Not judging here just curious if you might let us know a bit more about such decisions.. Would really appreciate some clearing up here😄
marioho
I'd love another Q&A session with David Greco like that we got last year, specially now that the performance and handling are on the point of being settled "for good" for this entry. Always good to get more insight😄 and yeah i dont think anything will change from now on, even if the Ferrari PU gains them the 10-15 horsepower.. Just wish the driver ratings/performance were more accurate, car performance is in a good state to be modded haha
Liaveil
Pace should indeed be split into two different stats; qualifying pace and race pace. They desperately need to add a stat editor into the game so we can change stats ourselves. Would be nice if we can change them between races even as an option so we can decide if a driver will perform better for a race (Like Leclerc at Silverstone or Perez at Baku for example) and then change it back after if we want to. Can also imagine our own driver growth or decay as the game goes on. They also need to remove permanent stat boosts since they make the driver stats largely irrelevant. (Gasly actually being better to hire than Hamilton is a glaring example of this). But it would also be nice to edit the stats ourselves so we can fix the poor stat choices for Russell, Sainz, Alonso and Ocon.

Agree for the most part, free editing could be difficult depending on how the AI reacts to such changes (if its like aero changes its a problem) but it needs to be much closer to reality. Race pace and quali pace should not only be different for the drivers but also for the cars, i modded that myself in a suboptimal but working way but e.g. Ferraris qualifying pace is not only equalised by giving them more tyre wear (which they dont even have in the game unless modded so😝).. Fully agree on the stat boosts part tho as it, as you said, really makes the driver irrelevant as almost every driver will get to 100 pace

I agree with race pace qualifying pace as in Leclerc is probably a tenth or 2 quicker than Sainz on a Saturday but very even on a Sunday

Bottas almost equal to Hamilton in quali but worse in the race, as you said Leclerc and Sainz altho Sainz has also kept it very close at times, Schumacher and Mazepin being closer in the race.. Those would be the most reasonable differences that shouldnt cause big discussions IMO

It needs to differ between race pace and quali pace.. Tsunoda is much better in the race than in quali, as is Mazepin who can often mostly keep up with Schumacher at least at the start.. Regarding qualifying pace this would be roundabout accurate

Russel Wet Pace 99 Bottas Wet Pace 62 This would be much more complicated to implement as this would need to change in a running session.. Besides measuring this is also not that easy, The claims made so far are easy to prove, but Russel was only performing well in qualifying, not for a whole race in the wet, Bottas wasnt bad today (yes i know about Turkey haha) and so on.. Lets be happy when the differentiate between quali and race.. Wet would be the next step😄
