More explanations for different modes needed to keep esp newbies motivated

will the devs make a proper tuning tutorial before release ?

it really should be done and be done by the people that make the game so there is no confusion.many of us use different settings so whatever we say is just hearsay.

we need a definitive set in stone this works.then we can work from that.

There is already a tuning "tutorial" in-game. Just read the tooltips in the setup window and adjust accordingly. Of course everyone will use different settings as everyone has different driving styles. There are no super duper ultimate settings of awesomeness. It's unique for every player.

btw, if you want to win money fast, the best way to do it is by running the Hillclimb, you can do 2 runs to complete the event (only 1 if the first run is already good enough for a first place).

Keep practising, you'll get there! ;)
Thanks for your kind words and the recommendation about the Hillclimb. Now all I need is enough credits to get a car for that. Maybe the Audi? I like how it looks and I think that should be a good reason to choose that car over the others. :)

405 T16 PP !!

Without any doubt.
The Audi is better for new players. The 405 has terrible understeer regardless of tweaks, and its topspeed is extremely low as well.
mmmmmokay.
By default, 405 is a very hard and weird car to drive; the Audi is more predictable and "logic".

But 405 well tuned is unbeatable. Not even the 205.

405 Top speed, dunno... 255 km/h is more than enough for just 3/4 sections where you can top that speed and then brake like crazy.

Understeer doesn't equal hard. The 405 is not hard to drive. The 205 is hard to drive but has the highest topspeed - and the Audi is pretty cooperative straight out of the box. Anyway, my point was that the Audi suits beginners better than the 405 because it does what it's told.

It's because of that German engineering thing during the development of the cars.

I'm pretty sure if you look in the car manuals it states , "Made with that German engineering thing that makes it reliable and that".

Makes me wonder why the Lancia is in the game in the first place. I bet noone ever plays the 60s cars after having tried anything else.
Didn't read the entire topic but I noticed this remark. Well, you lost your bet because after going from Open to Masters in one go the first time through with various cars, and testing quite a few other cars in custom events, I completely reset my profile and started all over again with only the Fulvia. I just reached the Masters level with it (again in one go). The Fulvia is an awesome car and by far my favorite. I am very happy CM put this car in the game and it will be my 'only' car for quite some time to come! You just got to learn how to handle and treat this beauty. ;) I did the first rally of the Masters yesterday, Finland, and won it after winning 6 stages (with default setup btw). So that's why the car is in the game: it's a great iconic car and I wouldn't mind if CM added a few others from the sixties!

Honestly, after almost 50 hours into the game, I indeed do agree with you! I now like the older cars and while I have found the Ford Focus 2007 to be my "go-car" for now, I do sometimes switch back to the old Lancia or the Fiat Abarth (I seem to have a thing for old Italian cars).

Interesting how one can change: from somebody whining and complaining, to somebody looking for a challenge.

I'm doing the Masters championship with the 60s Mini right now. Did the Elite with the Fiesta RS, so I've been driving all sorts of cars. The 60s cars were frustrating to drive in the beginning, but after v2 they are just fun and a refreshing change after the more modern stuff.

I've got 790 hours played and all cars upgraded, and I still enjoy the Mini Cooper. It's awesome. There's just one car I can't stand and that is the 2001 Subaru.

Upadtes from the Noob. This thread now turned into some kind of race diary. Thanks for still reading it.

I made it through Elite and am now in the Masters! Yeah! This difficulty is now officially UNBEATABLE. I was like 40 seconds late in my first race which was in Baumholder, where I excel. 40 seconds is what I am always late. But in Masters this isn't rank 4 or 5, it's rank 10!!!! I'll keep on trying though, I've put 50 hours into the game and nothing's gonna stop me now HarHar! In the second race on Baumholder I was only 7 seconds late. Bam Bam Bam.

Farming money by doing Hillclimb was something I started yesterday. It's basically not working at all. Driving that Audi just feels too weird, like driving with honey on my wheels that sometimes turns into super-lube. Now I spent all my money on a mode that is way too honey-ey for me. Errr. We'll see how that turns out. Does somebody have suggestioins for a setup for my car to make the honey go away?

Thanks for reading my ramblings,
-pac

Better control with your right foot.

Take your time to learn the track, first things first. Then get used to the handling of the car so that you can better position it in time for corners. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will come easy in this game. You have to put in a lot of time and effort.

@pacman84
This is great, seems like your having some fun out there

You are now on masters, not everybody can reach that level. Congrats.

Keep driving, you will be able to beat masters AI soon but remember to drive a fully upgraded car or it will become mission impossible

Once you beat Masters, it means you have earned some serious skills.
Then is just a matter of time, you will find Masters AI "easy" and your only remaining challenge will be the humans (..aliens) able to set incredible times.

And then you enter in what I call "The Zone". Its like Berserker mode, you can drive fast any car at any location, you barely need pacenotes as you have memorized all stages. You can run always on the edge, never crashing, scratching walls and guardrails, taking mini shortcuts, making sharp turns flawlessly... and resulting in top 30-10 final times (overall).
Its a big pleasure to feel this state, how your body and mind reacts instinctively to the car; and the fast driving just flows.

I need to re-enter the zone... coz I´m totally lost, unfocussed, disconnected.

I think its just a question tiredness, I really need to take some holydays.

Ozore: thanks for sharing that. I hope I will ever be that good.

Yeah so I tried my luck at the monthly with my beloved Ford. Yeah!!! After 2 races my car got into a terribad crash that destroyed it completely and the whole Rally was automatically over. Puke!
So I figured "let's buy a Lancia and drive the weekly". Guess what, second race, car completely smashed, Rally over.

I think you can reset all the Online events except for the daylies. Press the button for event details, then you can reset the event (;

ehh, I keep trying, but I think I'll wait till the do the new physics, which should be fairly soon. I probably could get... decent at it, but the physics are really weird. Shame, since I actually bought this game when I heard PP was included. Yeah, I'm that guy.

Over on the AI difficulty thread, I made an excel spreadsheet, since I apparently have too much time on my hands. The biggest difference between difficulty settings is the AI times grouping or average, the #1 AI is only a few seconds faster between Open and Masters, about 5-10 seconds depending on stage length. So if you get 1st in say, Pro, Master's should be pretty good for you.

I don't think I ever scored first anywhere within this game.
Also great to know that I can reset online events. Now that it's over! :) Well, there's always a next time.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the Group B cars? The Lancia has an insane amount of stability. Maybe I was to quick to call the Ford Focus 2007 my main gun. Maybe I should embrace the Italian in me!

The group Bs are fun, and differ a great deal between each other. In my view:
The quattro is probably the easiest of them, but you have to fight the understeer and need to get good at weight transfer for it to shine.
Lancia delta S4 is fun, lots of power but quite smooth in delivering it.
The peugeot is tricky. The turbo boost makes it hard to control if you push it, but can be insanely fast when you do.
Metro 6r4 is fun as hell to drive, lots of torque in a big rev range so it's easy to make it step out. Great for learning throttle control.

Looks like you will get in the zone with time.

Dont worry about crashing the car, it means you are taking risks and thats good.

Now you just need to take the same risks and tramsform it into great times without crashing. Sounds easy uh? :)
