Ah ok, thank you

2K Games in NBA 2K20 (I think) didn't even bother to try hiding the fact it had lootboxes, in the sense of putting it in another menu, they put in actual slot machines and other casino games like Roulette into the game instead LOL!

If you ever wanted to see a largely copy paste video game (IMO), look no further than NBA 2K games lol.

Ok 2K noted, but I have NASCAR Heat 4 and NASCAR Heat 5 and NH5 is just just NH4 but with 2020 season stuff instead of 2019

2K20 is my main NBA game this gen and I have to say I've never seen the casino besides on people's videos talking about it, if you don't care about it you can easily avoid, not that I think it should be there but just for some general balance.

All sports games to some extent will be copy and paste, it's not like everything changes year on year in real life either and 2K starts from a very strong base. It looks great, plays well and has the best presentation of any sports game that I've likely ever seen with halftime shows, on court interviews, multiple commentary teams, actual breakaway interviews with players about their passion for the game, all voiced and mo capped as well as the stunning (that year anyway) intro movie short with Idris Elba and Roasario Dawson for the career mode.

If I play a game on christmas eve / boxing day etc. on the calendar, the broadcast overlay changes and adds some little christmas flourishes and the commentary notes what day it is and wishes the viewers happy holidays, people in the corwd have santa hats on.. it's all these little things that make the game great.

Same for Halloween, thanksgiving, Valentines day..

Can't defend some things 2K does, but have to leap to the defence of the core of the games cos they are very strong and detailed experiences.

Yep, I saw that criticism myself with NH4 and NH5 when I was looking to buy NH5. NH4 is supposed to be the better game ironically and was recommended over NH5 a few times over on Reddit. I'm a newcomer to the series, so I don't see NH5 as anything bad, especially paying £10 for the ultimate edition with all DCLs. I have nothing else to compare it to, although you need to be a fairly big Nascar fan to enjoy these games IMO. The last Nascar game I played was 1994 and released by Papyrus under the name of NASCAR.

Nascar '21, the next release in the series, is being rebuilt from the ground up.

It was more a tongue in cheek comment bud, I thought the "lols" gave it away. I played NBA 2K from 2K14 to 2K19 and mostly agree with what you are saying. The mini story modes they do in MyCareer are good too. I like the fact you start in College and work your way up. I didn't get 20 and 21.

One of my points is, unless you hold devs to account with copy/paste games and bugs, the devs will continue with this practice and put out bug filled games or the same old games with new skins/yearly update. Nascar Heat is one example and NBA 2K is another example of copy/paste games. Bug filled games like FIFA 21, F1 2021 and CP2077

Yeah I’m looking forward to NASCAR 21 because from what I have seen it looks amazing

I remember reading about this. Wasn't this around the same time loot boxes were going through the courts to see if they can be deemed illegal and a form of gambling? I know in certain countries, lootboxes are illegal.

TOCA 2 was epic, along with the BTCC itself in the 90s. The game made by CM but they've since lost the BTCC license to Motorsport Games. The team behind Nascar Heat series of games. Heat is an okay game, captures the intensity of driving in a pack and jostling for position but not great IMO, as a new comer, it's worth it, especially with it being available for cheap on eBay. I paid circa £10 for ultimate edition. Motorsport Games have bought the studio behind rFactor2 and supposedly the rFactor2 team are having a big influence on the BTCC game and the same engine is being used for the BTCC game. There was supposed to be an update as to where Motorsport Games are with progress in July/August, but nothing came about. The game is due for release in 2022.

Motorsport Games are saying all the right things in regards to the BTCC game, i.e. official teams, official cars, official support series, official commentators, official drivers, MyTeam, classic cars, but it's early days still IMO and the radio silence from them isn't good IMO!

What made toca was proper crash damage.  And btcc rules especially back then is rubbing is racing.  And btcc drivers signature move if they couldn’t pass get past A rival by overtaking was to tap the rear quarter panel off the car infront and if they timed it right would cause the lead car to spin off.. and codemasters put that in the game... never got old I’d let cars pass just so I could spin them

You would think that the graphics for next gen would at least be jaw-dropping right?  Wrong, they look like a PS2 game.  Embarassing.

We reached a point of diminishing returns with games graphics back in the late 360/ps3 days. This is because player models and textures were at a very high level by that point. This is why there wasnt really a massive change in graphics during the Xone and PS4 generation of consoles. The thing that will improve graphics the most these days, is lighting, shadows and reflections/refractions. This is why both Nvidia and AMD are working on real time ray tracing effects. Ray tracing has been used for a quite a many years for rendering scenes withing 3d rendering applications for years, mainly due to the way ray tracing calculates lighting, shadows and reflections; and how much more natural and realistic the correct settings can make a 3d scene appear.

So you wont really see a massive increase graphically with games, until raytracing capable hardware has matured. Which will be at least another 2 generasions of GPU hardware on Nvidia's side, and possibly 3 to 4 generations on AMD's side.

This is why, even by todays standards. Racing games such as FM4 and GT6 still look quite good by todays standards, and why the call of duty and Battlefield franchises back from those 360/ps3 days still look really good now. If you look at footage of battlefield 3 and compare it to footage of battlefield 5 (first bf game with ray tracing). And baring a slight jump in lighting, shadows and reflections. They still look really close in the vast majority of other visual aspects.

Something like Fifa especially, is hardly going to see any graphical changes over time. As the nature of the game type doesnt really require it. Which is why, baring lighting and textures. The newest fifa titles still look like Fifa 2011.

All we got with the newest generation of hardware, is the capability to run at higher resolutions nativly, with more stable frame rates. With a little bit of extra lighting/shadows/reflections/refraction effects here an there.

Haha, try that now and you'll be in the stewards office, not sure if you still watch BTCC but there's a push to pass rule, so if you do exactly that, you have to give the place back or face a penalty. There's still rubbing and racing in there though but seems to have tamed down towards the tail end of the season.

TOCA2 was an absolutely epic game. Still love it to this day.

I picked up NASCAR heat 5 on that ps sale to  . It suffers with the same problem as every racing game currently just completely on rails ai and for me it just ruins it. I did a full race distance race at Watkins glen and road America and honestly every lap every corner just perfect line ,never crash in to each other . I actually deleted ride 4 for this exact reason and acc has this issue . Least this f1 version has or had ai mistakes as I hear they possibly been patched out as I haven't played it for few weeks. Jury out on NASCAR 21 seen nothing yet to show me they improved ai at all ....

The original battlefront games where just awful. I soon went back to battlefield and got rid of battlefront. I played all the original battlefield games as they released on PC, they was really good. My fave was Vietnam. Really like 2142 as well. Battlefield 2 was by far the techincal highlight of that particular generation of battlefield games.

I said this back then that ps2-3 Games became all about how great the graphics looked at the expense off game content...  PS4 games had room for both.

Although black ops 2 is still my favourite shooter

also you shouldn’t expect amazing graphics on new gen consoles for a couple off years.. developers need time exploring whats capable on new consoles then they will need to update their software and hardware.  First couple off years for new consoles is a transitional

Bad company 2 was last game I played online multiplayer.  Was ranked in top 5000.   Never spent a penny unlocked everything by playing.  one trophy stopped me getting platinum trophy and that was I hadt to stab five friends.  My online clan had 4 members and I was one,

all games that followed people were paying to rank up and i liked it when everyone started with same basic gear and you hadt to work at getting better stuff... no problem getting killed by a gun with every attachment and perk if it was earned.  But when you still have mediocre gear after putting in the hours only to get killed by a noob who payed real money to get all the upgrades was to much.

that and I was getting old  and getting killed by kids who’s balls hadn’t dropped was humiliating

Oops, I don't think either of us got the tongue in cheek there haha. Ah well I don't mind a ramble about 2K, outstanding sports title away from the microtransaction bait that they all must have these days.

EA's title's are so stale and lacking character by comparison, they're really lagging behind now. but don't seem fussed, it's a shame as I have fond memories especially of old Madden's and just how much stuff they managed to fit on a disc back then.

I must be in the minority here but I actually enjoy and am currently doing career modes in madden 21, UFC 4 and although they ain't perfect and I don't do online so all the packs etc don't affect me . But they feel a lot more dynamic and feel like playing a online match when playing the ai as the make realistic errors / great plays, moves so keeps it interesting something that racing games are really lacking. Also a mention to mlb the show as probably replicates the sport better than any other franchise currently..

I'm Brazilian, here the minimum monthly salary is R$: 1,192.40

This game in its standard version, cost R$: 299.00 basically 1/4 of a monthly salary. many families survive on a minimum wage. where do I want to go with this?

I paid 1/4 minimum wage in a game with buggy lobbies, there were days that I gave up playing online simply because I couldn't. it's a safety car teleporting, appearing elsewhere and NCing cars. it's my Thrustmaster steering wheel losing force feedback out of nowhere in mid-race. it's pretty frustrating, I certainly won't buy this game in 2022

And this is exactly why, we should voice our opinion despite what some people say.

I hear what you are saying, but what I am saying, is that the graphics on the next gen fifa 22 game are so abysmal it's laughable.

Don't mean they haven't improved, in a year (that would be fine with me), I mean they have gone back, back, back.  I think they must have had some issues, but the pressure to force these games out, means you just crack on and deal with the mess in patches (if you can).

The graphics on the old gen version played on the same console (they are bundled together) are considerably better.
