DiRT Rally Cheats

Recommended Posts

Sweelamb's Group A World Record is made by the infamous youtube.Sethioz.xyz. Shouldn't he be banned already? I think we can all agree that non of his time will be ever legit considering what he does.

I would suggest you pm @Hatward  or @KickUp rather than giving these tools more exposure. Though they are certainly aware of them already.

Why share this muck?  This is just a numpty recruitment drive.  And DiRT already met its quota of those.....

So it seems like some of his stages records are still visible as valid. @Hatward I'd really appreciate if you could take a look into this. Thanks.

DiRT Rally cheats, it's TIME they were STOPPED.

I agree 100%.

With every passing day it becomes more and more depressing competing in, and chasing times where the whole community is involved. A couple of nights ago I managed to nab my first WR. This came as a result of dozens of runs over and over on the same stage, having a pretty good setup, but found one on Workshop that was better but had a few flaws, ran it a few times, and decided to incorporate a few of my own setup aspects into it, another couple of dozen runs then gave up as the beer started to do more driving than me. Came back on the next day and on the third run, nailed it by 1 second.

As I've mentioned in other threads, I'm very new to Dirt Rally, but far from new on other platforms, so with modesty I do have a bit of form. Don't get me wrong though, I'm far from good with Dirt Rally yet. I need to spend a lot more time with this game before getting very good. In this case it was just a concentration of time and effort into one stage with one car that lucked me into it.

It seems I got beaten today by a Russian chap who, on a 3 min 10 stage found another 11 secs. This chap has had the game for 2 weeks, must be a terribly fast learner !!!!

I'm sure the Codemasters peeps are doing all they can, I guess it's just going to have to be put up with until the artillery start firing on these types of people, assuming of course my nemesis above is one of them. Until that happens, might go back to offline championships and getting all these cars upgraded. :)

yes it is christmas so i guess some of the times will stay listed for a short while . hopefully after the break the times are removed.

my only concern on this matter is for how long will the tables have a good look over ?

times are very important for many. for those who set the very fast times it is almost the point of playing. when you see someone who just done it 15-25 secs quicker and rest of the top ten are within a 100th of a second its pretty simple to see .

I personally think that this is the wrong thing to do - cheaters will always try to cheat somehow. Some of them are actually "good" at cheating as well, being extremely subtle about it. Giving them second chances will convince approximately 1% of them to become clean players. Once a cheater, always a cheater. But it's Codemasters' game - and thus they make the calls.

Yup agree completely Porkhammer.

It's a curious question though what motivates these types, it's almost as if it's another completely different group of folks altogether. Whilst the majority compete, learn try new things in their setup, experiment with different diving styles ..... the list goes on, all to get better at a particular thing, in our case DR. It's almost as if their competition and motivation, is who can out cheat the next fella in their own completely different community.

I used to think it was so they could just prance about the place saying look at me I'm #1 everywhere, how good am I ???!!! But I don't think it's that at all.

It's just so frustrating that their own private war with one another has such an almost dominating impact on the 'real' competitors within groups such as the DR community.

you wont ever figure out why its different for so many. what really makes me laugh is how easy it is to find the people who do use them.i used to be pb admin for many years there searching many varying ways. it really doesn't surprise me any more.

some people do it so they can be top or the best some do it cause they cant do it normally but want to. some are just curious. some are just stupid.

the thing is just because its so easy to tell who cheats and who doesnt that isnt the hard part its proving it.which is a whole different kettle of fish.

Yeah, it can be difficult to prove, but the closer a title gets to simulation and the more effort that's been put into 'attention to detail' by the designers, the harder it is to hide cheat methods, visually & dynamically.

DiRT Rally is getting pretty transparent with shared setups etc, & if you take the time to try a few, they just don't work in the 'real' world.  If you find it difficult to go full throttle over bumps or through a corner while keeping a neat & tidy line, chances are, no-one else can.

Visual & Sound fx in this game are second to none.  We've all heard a car straining under load when climbing the hill up to the hairpins in Germany, we've heard a heavy landing in Finland, we've all felt the car lose grip when feathering the throttle over uneven surface, we've seen Ride height visually change when we set our cars up for different stages.  We've seen the sparks fly on Tarmac when landing heavily & most importantly, we've all driven the same corners in the same cars with the same tyres.  We can even drive them with the same setups now too.  If a car is running additional weight/aero/gravity, you can see and hear it clearly.  They still jump & slide, but throttle control becomes virtually unimportant and the drivers get to go full throttle as they are pressed into the surface with little slip & wheelspin & you can hear the added engine and suspension strain that extra load brings.

As mentioned, some of the cheats are quite subtle and are good at creating the facade of brilliance.  We all know what to look out for, or more importantly, know what to listen for, so don't believe everything you read on Racenet.

Dont let the results or anyone on here demoralise you.  Enjoy the game & have fun.  Join a league with a group of your own real friends.  They are real people with real times & real competition.

I get the feeling that we may have lost a very competent driver yesterday, who's likely getting frustrated with the state of honesty with the game over the past while & getting no reward for effort (& possibly after specific happenings yesterday).  That's just a guess however, but if I'm right, that's a real tragedy :(

Remember, great drivers can adjust to suit the grip, crap drivers adjust the grip :)

When I said the time they were stopped thing I was making a joke about kev's gravity sig. I do want cheaters removed and prevented from playing, and cheating in the first place, but I trust codies to do it, they've made it clear they take it seriously.

But how are you going to improve anti-cheat system, if all the cheaters will be banned?
Who will show you shortcomings of your system?

I'm convinced my nemesis is a cheat now after seeing this. Kinhab is this chap's name, in WR talk, 9.2 secs faster than Porkhammer(currently in 4th place) through Oksala(Finland) in the R4 category. 2nd place is only 1.5 secs faster, much more believable.

Some of the cheaters don't do the daily events. They just do custom events or whatever as I doubt those leaderboards are checked as regularly.

Everyone - remember to screenshot dodgy stage times and link them to @Hatward - and they'll be taken care of.
Have you been doing that with just the normal leaderboards then?

Yes, I always screenshot dodgy stage times - daily, weekly, monthly, and custom events. Anything I find.
