F1 2016 discussion

Recommended Posts

@Lozzy I was thinking it might be a cool idea to have some kind of 'trophy/ show-room' displayed in the main menu. After you win a race in championship/career you get the GP's trophy added and you can view them/zoom in with perhaps the stats of the GP as a memory.

Right now I feel that the games lack some sense of  reward for winning a race/championship, because all you get is the animation. Adding something simple like these trophies would make us feel more like we're actually working towards/doing it for something. Maybe it could be something else to give the same feeling, but I'd personally love to have trophies or other unlock-ables.

Like this?

I want to see hats being chucked at rivals. Oh and something like that time Senna smacked Irvine upside his head for unlapping himself. Good times.

I would like to see more of an effort to make the game feel more realistic in terms of tire interaction with the bitumen (The Lotus E23 in FM6 feels so much more real) and more of conveyance of how the rubber interacts with particles and the various track imperfections. There is too much of an arcade feel to this game compared to how Formula cars drive in FM6 and Project CARS!

I think the AI should make more mistakes, they should be like real life and not computers that are perfect. By the way, I feel like we have to get more retirements. Whether it'a a mechanical failure (we should be able to get those ourselves not just AI) or a crash. Talking about crashes, the cars shouldn't just disappear when they crash but we have to see the car getting cleared. Also, the tyre barriers should be more realistic (like FM6) now every wall seems like it's made of cement!

I think the best thing you guy's can do is dust off the xbox 360 and play the F1 games of the past yourselves to get a better idea of what the community wants and listening to people's ideas along the way. For example In f1 2010 you had to be carefull with pitstops to fast on full revs and you knock your front jackman over to slow into the pits you get a slow pitstop. You really had to nail them

Yeah I miss the 2010 pitstops.

@Lozzy
It would be cool if we get a cool down lap after the race and can press buttons for example X and the driver celebrates in the car just like it is in FIFA after a goal :)

And please CM if you introduce a formation lap let us drive by ourselve into our grid and don't do an animation, this would destroy the whole feeling of the formation lap :)

I thought it would be a good idea to bump the thread for something people don't really ask for Flatspots on the tyres after locking up into a corner. I'm not sure how hard it would be but with the new consoles I thought it would ideal to ask you @lozzy @Britpoint

Codemasters could smooth the effect of the stones flying when the car goes to the escape area (off-track) when put in reverse gear, for example, stones flying from the front tires, flying much, and end up falling within the car, and simply disappearing. It was not very interesting, this effect in F1 in 2015.

This can be added to F1 2016, more realistic pitstop, more freedom.

Here are a few ideas for the career mode
- You should be able to create a person like you can on FIFA and GTA. This would help with the podium celebrations after the race.
-BRING BACK THE LIVE THE LIFE FEATURE! This is a must have, it really made the 2010/11 games a lot better, so you can have interviews on the grid pre race, be able to walk around the paddock etc
- Be able to have a lot more seasons in the career, rather than just five, you should be able to pick any amount of seasons between 2 and 20.
- You should also be able to pick your racing number and customise helmets, be able to pick different designs for certain parts of the helmet

Bring back live the life!
Bring back upgrades (but make them more important)
Weekend weather forecast
Difficulty sliders from 1 to 100
Character creator! So I can create myself
Suits that have my name on it
Liveries that have my name on it.
Helmet creator
Change teams at the end of the season
Fans!
Money!
Add new gameplay like:
Classic Formule 1
Formula 1 manager

A wish list like this explains why we end up with an arcade game. I disagree with everything you list.

-Warm Up Laps which determine how good your race start is.
-Safety car, Virtual safety car and Red flags
-Much better damage and realistic damage too
-More atmospheric look (Fifa next gen as an example, they have nailed the atmosphere for that)
-Career mode, with testing, being a test driver etc,

For starters, they need to allow the user to control their own AA etc settings, so that users can for instance, use NV Inspector for settings. The Graghics engine in F1 2015 is awful, I can't run on max settings on a 4g GTX970 where my GPU memory load in for example P Cars at max settings is less than half that of F1 2015 at low settings, yet the visual Graghics are comparable to F1 2015 high settings.

@Lozzy  I hear that Sony  made possible for developpers, that they can use 7 th Core for game. Before that there was just six cores for game. How do you think that its help in game development?

I posted my hopes for F1 2016 a month ago in a different place.. Thought that it would be good to add in here so Codies could se all in one place.

"As for offline... The lack of game modes is the biggest problem.
For example; You don't have that same passion when you are driving as a real driver and you have only one season to go through. It doesn't matter if you are last in every race with Mercedes because it doesn't effect anything (next seasons contracts etc). It looses the depth and as you can see from watching Youtube videos; The F1 community on that side is really dying right now. There is nothing to do. I sure hope you are really focusing on career mode and other smaller game modes for F1 2016.

Few easy ways to make the game a bit more realistic:
Add a pit limiter option that you have 100% control of everything on the entry and the exit of the pit and stopping your car at the pit box.You can gain or  lose a massive amount of time depending if you are willing to take a risk and braking a bit later at the entry (causing you maybe going over the speed limit and facing a penalty) or breaking earlier and going to limiter mode many meters before the line. Breaking to the pit box you might miss the optional stopping point and that effects the time of the stop and so on...
Warm up lap: Really easy way to make the game feel more realistic. Poor warm up and you screw up the start or just nailing the perfect temperature and having a flying start (like the Williams in Silverstone).
Safety Car: ...As mentioned by everybody. D No need to explain the importance.
Red Flag: Same as above. Mentioned, no need to explain.
Stop & Go: Want to cut corners..? Probably not after you have faced a few Stop and go's and you are a lap down. (and drive through penalties as well)

Greatest part with these ideas above? They all could be ON/OFF-possibilities so those people who don't enjoy driving a warm up lap doesn't need to.

There is only one really necessary change as for bigger improvments:
DAMAGE: Oh boy I really hope that you make damage more realistic. The mods that some people have done to F1 2014 looks simply amazing. You can't touch the car in front even a little bit without losing at least a minor part of your front wing.
In F1 2015? You can sometimes drive in tho them at 300km/h and the car is still fine... Really pisses me off!
D I want to see cars breaking down more! Are there even more breaking parts than the front wing (half or entirely gone are only options?) and the wheels in 2015? Really sloppy on that part Codies, really sloppy... Mechanical problems happen to AI drivers sometimes but never to players? Why? Those should have a much higher impact to the game. Like we saw in Mexico, drivers had to drive different lines on the straight just to cool down their breaks. In F1 2015 the race engineer sometimes warns me as breaks are too hot but they don't have the possibility to broke entirely? And for me, I haven't noticed any difference breaking while the breaks are hot.. So there is no point to cool your breaks and let the car in front have a bigger gap.

Ps. Pre season testing would be amazing for career mode."

As I have been reading other peoples comments it's quite clear what are the main hopes for F1 2016 in general:

Safety Car
Damage
Warm-up lap
Red flag

And these are all quite easy to add to the game (besides realistic damage). Really annoyed if CM can't add even these simple things to F1 2016 as they are more than aware that those are the things players want to be included to the game.

E: Oh and @Lozzy, have you ever thought the possibility of GP2-cars in the game? Would make Career mode SIIIIIICK as hell!

Think they could do with adding old tracks that F1 used to race at? say Hockenheim, Imola, brands hatch, or too far, Nurburgring??  And sure there's more great tracks I'm neive to!! With maybe a possibility to add them into career mode?

We should be able to choose spectator mode before the session starts. And when you are spectating I would like to see a live standings like this:

Things that I shouldn't mention, but scared to see missing if I don't is implementing the new tyre rule. Next to that I would love to see, even for online, 2 qualification sessions if it's still limited to 16 players, 3 if it's 22 players. Doesn't have to be that long as real-life (or give us an option how long those sessions can be). other than that, I'll think about some things, generally I would just like to see closer to real-life (yeah I know it's still a game)

Thought I'd add my input as I made a touch on it in another part of the forum:

- career mode - an absolute must for 2016, I have missed this mode this year as you have no progression from season to season, gives the game no direction and playability without it! I found this years title boring, I played one championship season and that is all the game offered, the ai were too fast on the straights so anything other than the Mercedes was awful to do a season with.
A more interesting season is needed though, possibly a 10 year instead of 5 year career, and I would like the post race interviews and the 'live the life' modes that you did a great job with in 2010, with a new console it could really open up what you could produce as well.

- safety car, virtual safety car - ridiculous that it was not added this year as the vsc was new and something that made this season a little bit different, the safety car being left out of the game was shocking, it is the only interesting aspect that opens up a chance of different stratergies and changing the race, without it the game becomes predictable and boring!

- red flags, black and orange flags - no brainer, How can you be licencing this as a formula 1 game when you are not implementing all the rules and regulations??!!

- challenge mode - made the game a bit more interesting and in depth, was fun to play out interesting scenarios from the previous season, why was that taken out?? I get a feeling it all hinged on using up too much time building the 2014 season on top of the 2015 game which I personally would have quiet happily not had if I could have had some of the things specified here!

- Ai and gameplay - all the issues that have come up in this game, the ai too fast on straights, not getting out of the way of blue flags, getting qualifying lap times at the starts of races etc etc, need to be sorted, I think anyone who bought this game deserve something finely polished and highly playable next year, I will base my judgement of buying anymore codemasters games on what is achieved in f1 2016!
• More varied stratergies with tyres, offering different ideas for stop amounts, there is not enough choice in the current game.

• In race commentary, with an option to switch off

• R&D needs implementing to make practice worth more in the game.

• warm up lap to bring the tyres to temperature, also making starts better or worse if you have or haven't warmed them up properly, also a cool down lap would be great where you could run all the way back to pits at the end of a race!

• more control during pit stops and starts, maybe a pit limiter button so you control the pit stop completely.

• I would like to be able to communicate simple commands to the race engineer through my headset or controller rather than having tons of options to scroll through on the current pit to car radio whilst trying to race, I would much rather have more varied and interesting options to scroll through on the fuel mixes, diff settings, aero settings and anything else that may be set by the driver through the steering wheel, more detail is key to providing fans of the sport with a game they will enjoy, this is not a game you can appeal to everyone with, the major market for this game are the f1 fans who want to keep with the tradition of making this a simulation of f1 and not a long distance arcade game, there are other games out there for people who want that!

- classic mode - I think it was 2013, we had classic cars, classic tracks and a challenge mode, why couldn't you revert back to this idea with classic races such as the 80's battles between Senna vs Prost, Schumacher vs Hill, Lauda vs Hunt etc etc? I know it will take a few years to get it right but would be worth it!

Just some ideas but I would disappointed if at least a few of them weren't implemented next year, it couldn't really be anymore dull than this years copy though... Could it???

You can already do that. The menu is only there so people with unsupported headsets can use it too.
