Force feedback question (Tyre slip & FWD cars)

Okay. Not a problem for 4x4 and RWD cars; but what about the FWD cars?
Yes, in most of cases front wheels will be covered by other forces but not 100%, or should not, specially on straight line from standstill.

You know... its so weird to run start a run at Germany (dry) with the 306 KC, engage 1st gear and watch & hear this monster revving in redzone, skidding for 50 metres and feeling nothing in your hands.

I know the car has not traction control (nor launch control), so theres no kicking; but I bet It must give some rumble on the steering wheel.
I noticed this on today´s daily.

It´s not a question of life and death xD .. but I would like to know why you (Codemasters team) decided to keep away the FWD cars from this FFB effect.

Thanks! regards

The answer is posted above:-

You can already feel what the front end is doing with the FWD stuff, it is pretty accurate too!  You get to feel understeer/oversteer with steering forces.  When traction breaks, the tyre force makes the wheel go light in your hands until you find grip again, & the suspension forces pull your steering to give torque steer or give you suspension hop when spinning off the line!

The rear of the car, thats a whole different axle with its own feedback input scaler!

@KevM thats correct, but what I´m asking for is the simply effect of vibration when front tyres skids, specially stationary skid with front tyres burning out.
You can reproduce this on kit cars, 1st gear... rev up, burn some rubber... nothing is transmitted to the wheels.

Actually you can get this effect in the rear tyres but not on the front ones.
This effect is controlled by "Tyre Slip" FFB option.

When the front wheels break, you'll get light disconnected steering & suspension bump dependant on the terrain.  If doing a stationary front wheel drive burnout, your tyres are on the one spot, so wont vibrate (no terrain).  You might get weird light steering with tidy pull in a real car, but that's generally it!

definitely you are not getting my point. This has nothing to do with traction, suspension, surface or weight of the wheel.
This is just a canned effect.

When you burn out rear tyres you should not feel vibrations on the wheel neither. but you do!
This effect comes from "Tyre slip" effect, set it to 0 and it dissapears. The function of this effect is just an indicative of the rear tyres are slipping/sliding; real or not? I dont care, I just like it.

I would like to got the same effect on front tyres; thats all.

Hope now is clear :)

I know what you are saying, but don't think its an accurate expectation.

If you burn-out your front wheels, the friction effect on the tyres becomes nearly zero as they have broken traction and are on a stationary spot on the road.  Your steering is connected to that zero friction tyre mechanically, so you loose all steering feeling due to friction being overcome.  Your rear tyres become the pivot-point/anchor of the car but the steering wheel is independent to the rear suspension, so none of those forces from the rear tyres/suspension get transmitted to your hands directly.

In RWD, the opposite is true.  RWD burn-out has the rear wheels at close to zero friction and the front suspension becomes the pivot point and anchor.  This all comes through the steering-wheel as the front wheels/suspension are loaded up & acting to combat the forces pushing from the rear.

when your steer rumbles   when doing a burnout  , then your wheels are not alligned ,   you should blame the garage where they putted your tires on.

:) hehe very funny....

But the vibrations that are you referring occur due to wheel balancing ...with those bits of lead they put, nothing to do with wheel alignment.

Back in rally games, I want my damned artificial vibrations!

Boy, that conversation could go somewhere else real fast. But I'll agree with you, it'd be nice to know when the front tires are slipping out.

I´ve solved this "issue" by installing FFB Impact MOD.

Somehow its revealing now this detail.

Shame there's no MOD for us poor PS4 users with the T300 wheel !
We don't even get self centering or strong FFB anyways  :(

On PS4 doesnt exist a control panel for the wheel, outside the game?
