General suggestions for future games

Recommended Posts

I guess this could be put in the suggestion section, but as there's no specific suggestion and more of a discussion, figured I'd put it here. Please note, these are meant to be suggestions for future titles, i.e. not happening in this one.

I was playing on Monte Carlo the other night and started looking at the road, more specifically, I was looking at the worn down sections where other "drivers" have raced through. I know it'd be a small thing, but I think it would be cool if they took the previous 10 or so drivers paths down the road and have that dynamically change the worn path, and could show you where some people nail it, or nail the corner. Just an interesting idea.

I was also thinking that while dynamic weather during the stage doesn't make a whole lot of sense, a 24 hour time selection, along with date and full weather effects could be really cool. Apart from weather affecting ambient temperature, the date could make it hail or snow. On stages like Monte Carlo, maybe the track gets more or less built up with ice or snow, depending on time, date, and weather. I've also really been wanting a game that traverses seasons, which would again be AWESOME and keep the stages feeling fresh, make a winter, summer, spring, and fall version. I know it's fairly unrealistic, but hey, that's what this thread is for.

Well i was thinking Dynamic weather makes loads of sense :) if you have longer stages.
+ rally events can be held on more than one stage(multiple) per day.

^^ ^^
Imagine a whole league or a bunch of friends waiting to drive a stage.
So 4 folks have driven already and 2,4,8 or even 12 guys still waiting to take their turn - weather changes, torrential downpour/thunderstorms.
Same goes for places like sweden - blizzards/whiteouts.

Some sort of live weather system, maybe something along the lines of how FSX does it.

The rubbered line could be cool though, not necessarily showing you who nailed it.
But showing the folk that went before you, good or bad.

Which brings me back to the dynamic weather.
If enough people are making a run, you could get a drying line with the rain stopping and sun coming out.

Saying that...
Just much longer stages than what we currently have is way more important to me in a Rally sim.
not forgetting the handling/physics of 'cos. :)

That would be cool too, but how long would that stage have to be for dynamic weather to really take place? 20-30 minutes? that's a hell of a rally. They could of course also do the changing weather throughout the progression of races. The dynamic rubbered line could help people learn where there's the most often messed up corners, so it could even be a learning tool.

From the survey thread:
"I basically told them to create the iRacing of rally, in the sense that they should focus on simulation, competition, and long term support/development. Either continue developing Dirt Rally or create a dedicated rally game with an upgraded game engine. This game would feature long stages, online multiplayer, online leagues/tournaments, replay downloading/sharing, robust leaderboards, web API, and better physics. Laser scanned stages would be ideal, albeit a long shot. Though, if you're making a rally game with long stages then laser scanning might be the best option. They could support their continual development through either DLC's or subscriptions. Some people are turned off by this but I have no problem throwing money at a masterpiece that'll continually be developed and supported for years."

Well if you look at spa as an example.... not in the literal sense, but as an environment.
One half of the track can have no rain while it downpours on the other, which is only minute/s away in rally car.

But yeah, that's what i said...
Weather is changing while people are sitting waiting to drive the stage.

Oh... and for folks thinking about restarting a stage...
Well unlucky 'cos the weather ain't gonna' get any better, it's only going top get worse(maybe on that specific day).

Friends shouting... hurry and finish the stage, the weathers coming in(or not). :)

I guess that's true, but I don't think I've seen a game that really does that in a track racer. Actually maybe they could take it from Horizon 2, the weather in that was really cool.
