automatic gears

Recommended Posts

why is it so quick..? for f1 2016, can you make it so people who use automatic gears drive slower? its not hard to use manual gears + suggested gears its frustrating cause i would say im around the same speed as some people and they use automatic gears and they shift perfect and are able to focus more on the driving, and imo its not very good racing if you're winning because you have auto gears while someone just a little slower is using manual, im now starting to use auto gears in league racing just so i can compete with some guys that are using auto

in my first few laps @ belgium i was able to get into the 1:46s after switching to auto, and i was still getting used to it i believe i can get into the mid 1:46s or high 1:45s with manual gears i was at around 1:47s and belgium isnt even one of my strong tracks, australia is probably my strongest and im yet to test out my pace around there with automatic gears

Although I find I have way better control in and out of corners with manual gears, I tend to agree that there should be a speed penalty for auto gears, because I find it extremely difficult to handle the tire changes, fuel mix and brake bias adjustments while handling the constant up/down gear shifts required. Of course the way too complicated D-pad system for tires etc doesn't help.

Always a tricky one to balance... on the one hand, by definition the assists have to make slower drivers more competitive, otherwise they're pointless. But on the other hand, there has to be a cut-off point at which a driver with assists off will be faster than a similarly-skilled driver with assists on, otherwise there's no incentive to ever turn them off.

Does anyone use a pad and manual gears? If so I salute you.

Some of us can't afford a wheel and decent set up. I'd love nothing more than a gaming chair, wheel and pedals but unfortunately have other priorities . So I'm one of the people that use auto gears on a pad

I think this is a bit of a dilemma, but which ever way you look at it, there is a definite advantage to not having to up and down shift manually. I do however appreciate that there are some fans that cannot afford the fun experience of using a wheel/pedal combo in a auto racing game.

I'm playing pad with manual gears. I haven't noticed any disadvantage towards the auto gears users tho... I always believed manual was faster

i use manual on the pad but use auto for league racing now as i believe its quicker (for other game modes ill stick to manual) use R2 for throttle and L2 for brakes and L1 to downshift and R1 to upshift

and the two top guys in my racing league im in are using auto gears and they're basically in a league of their own, the next race for us is belgium so if i am able to match or beat there pace i'll know for sure if auto gears is truly quicker

Manually shifting is probably the hardest skill to master. Shift to early and you bog the engine, shift to late and you over rev, both wasting time. We have a 8 speed transmission. Are you sure your shifting exactly at the optimal RPM each and every time? Whoever programmed the automatic shifting has the car shifting precisely at the right moment, and I doubt anybody could manually out shift an automatic. So I think automatic verses manual is dead on and no changes should be made.

Probability should have 2 separate league racing classes.

You can do so much more with manual gears that you can't do with auto gears that win time, on the losing time part; I don't overrev or shift too early, It's just part of the racing, I don't even put my mind on it anymore when doing so

Might sound alittle weird but if players are being faster in automatic then the problem is in the braking physics in the game. Not the gear changing physics.Thats a clear sign that the braking is far to easy to perform and is dumbed down way, way,to much much causing other parts in the game to be uses as a advantage such as automatic trans. To be honest, these cars need to spin everytime someone gets a downshift wrong or downshift to fast.Allowing the cars to do that like they are suppose to would solve silly things like auto trans being faster.

i've used manual on a pad since 2010 and i simply cannot play with auto gears anymore cause i'll always be habitually shifting. i haven't found any disadvantage at all using manual gears in 2015.
