[OFF TOPIC] Sebastien Loëb Rally EVO devs

Recommended Posts

I still think they have been reading this forum and getting ideas.  Competition no matter how good or bad helps drive everyone forward.

also irks me that they got some licenses that DR didn't, not sure how as they are a smaller budget company too.

The game looks like it is presented well, and the menus look like they will be quite good. And the car lost Outside now looking pretty nice! But if the stages and handling can't match up to DR I'll be disappointed. And I really struggle to see them pulling off the same levels of depth Dirt has.

Coming from someone who Competes in rally in real life, it's quite incredible what the dirt team have managed to do with the game.

I'm 99% sure that none of those are correctly modeled rallycross cars. The i20 looks like the WRCar and the DS3 is definitely a WRCar with Loeb's X-Games skin. Not important to most I know, but I was hoping to see a similar attention to detail for the rallycross cars as DR.

Codies do have the official FIA WRX license remember, so this is an area they should be expected to have an edge.

Yeah, true. Not sure if the WRX license would restrict car types as well? It looks like they have got the genuine livery for Loeb's DS3, just not the correct car model.

It will most likely become very obvious once the game releases. Or not. We'll see.

It all depends on how they spent their budget. The Dirt Team used their budget to create real stages, beautiful car models and proper physics. Milestone probably spent quite a bit of their budget on licensing cars and liveries which leaves less budget for the really important things in a realistic rally game.

The license can only be applicable to cars, liveries and drivers within the actual FIA WRX competition.
Something an X-Games or Global Rallycross livery has nothing to do with.

Graphics looked ok. Can't comment on physics from the video. Audio though, truly awful. Worse than RBR. I won't even consider buying this game with those vehicle sounds. Completely ruins a car game for me.

Your probably right.  Car models are mostly are from previous games, not complaining about quality, but reusing them probably didn't take a lot of money.

Definably the stages and time that went into handling took a lot of the budget for sure.

Maybe DR2 will have a larger budget and the physics will just be 'polished' so time spent elsewhere in the game.

I've said previously that DR may very well be a big experiment for many many things.  So possibly next title will be less raw (read: raw is not bad!)

BTW I say time which is also money..  Just to be clear

What a community DiRT Rally has. DR drives like hovercrafts on ice but people keeps laughing for other titles because those doesn't look as good as DR.. Well done, ladies and gentlemen. Can't wait for the console guys!
So you already tested SLRE.

Tell us more.

...c´mon

Dont wait for console guys. Just wait for the final release of DR and then, all your doubts will dissapear.
Don't you see the content in this thread to be a bit ironic..? :)
 Ironic?

No. you are at forums.codemasters.com

What did you espect?

Have a look into Milestone´s and Big Ben forums and you will see anti Dirt Rallyers all around.

All correct.

Nah, should be on a proper SFC/EU SNES cartridge. The US SNES was ugly as sin, lol.
Or a Mega-Drive J-Cart if you're up on your Codemasters history.

This is the console release I've been waiting for: I'm unboxing the SNES as soon as I get home!

Hopefully the Robin will come with ski attachments for the front so we can slide the front on Sweden's snowbanks!

Even more gossip material! Must be some serious leak somewhere.

I really want them to release that as an April Fools next year. It would be awesome, especially with how many people are asking for it.

Screw that. It's RHD for Pete's sake! :D

As far as SLRE goes. If nothing else, whoever is doing their PR work needs to be fired. Maybe it's one of the dev's relatives and they can't bring themselves to fire the person or what, they need to go. It's some of the worst marketing I've seen to promote a game, or any product for that matter. What happened to those screenshots when they first announced the game? Those didn't look half bad, but since then I haven't seen anything that looks remotely close to that. Even some of the later screenshots look bad. One trailer doesn't look too bad, the next two look like some arcade racer from the 80's, as far as how the cars behave. In one trailer the sounds are so awful, and in another not that bad. I think it was the Stratos that actually sounded pretty good. I don't know, for some reason I thought they wouldn't have a problem getting access to most any Citroen or Peugeot they'd need.

And maybe it's a cultural thing. But, why can't studios get tire sizes right? Seems like the British like to put oversized tires/wheels on their virtual cars. While the Italians like to go with undersized tires/wheels.

Why has all the footage they release have the most moronic, terrible drivers ever to showcase their game?  I mean like, people that have never played a racing game in their life.  Their PR team is god awful.
