VVV will be doing a 6 way comparison, if memory serves me correctly, to include DriveClub.  He makes references to similarities right at the close of the video that's posted

i don't know where Allen sees the similarities to Driveclub?  I have only watched the videos of both games, I don't see anything revolutionary with SLRE.  The graphics are good over all.  Could someone clue me into why he may think so?

He's the only on who can answer that!  Unless he's going to use DriveClub to slate the life out of SLRE's presentation?

He's set the Balls on the table there with the physics!

The most off-putting thing I have seen in the videos so far, has been the awful standard of driving by guys struggling with 900 degrees!

I don't expect this to 'feel' like D:R, but it looks like something that I could enjoy playing.  Dare I say, Im looking forward to it???  :)

"...quite impressive, like Driveclub, surprisingly like Driveclub in fact..."

Hmmmm...
Where does it say that?
nm, I actually watched the video lol.

Anybody else get the feeling that SL:RE devs have been looking at someone elses game and taking more than just notes? :D

3:10 sweet lamb is the best comparison with dirt, and it doesn't look like it matches up. One point is that they spend the whole video pushing 'real stages' and 'real cars', yet they missed the water splash in sweet lamb?
The tarmac looks ok, but the gravel just doesn't feel right, there are no undulations or bumps

One thing that those drivers have shown, is that the cars don't behave like a brick bouncing off a wall like they do in DR. At ~10:26 the driver bumps into that wall, car doesn't get thrown all over the place, it absorbs the impact and just gets nudged a bit.

But so far, the roads. Widths look ok, but every location they've shown so far looks rather flat/smooth. I also wonder if the driving "aids" the dev was talking about go beyond typical ABS, etc. Maybe it was because English isn't his first language, but how he talked about it, made it sound like the driving aids would change the physics itself. I wonder if all the footage we've seen so far has been with the aids on or off.

Well they've been trying to keep up with ... pace notes... I tried. :'(

Aha! This is why codies intentionally left some errors in the french pace notes! ;-)

New gameplay
Body is 28 characters too short.
Seriously!

No one can get a single clue of what SLRE is with those donkeys driving!
(now I remember the bald guy from the other video xD)

I cant figure out how good or bad are the physics yet. Seems like in every single video cars have all knd of AIDS and "auto driving" ever existed. Oh, 50 right two, lets brake like 1km before! :dizzy:

...mmmñññahhj.. I dont spect too much of this game; Sebatien´s gestures talk for themselves. He drives 100m, stop and have a comment, one turn one comment, wich is good, but the way he look.. dunno.. he seems dissapointed.

Hell, if the game is solid at release, even if it plays like Dirt 3 I'd still be interested in checking it out.

When have previews like that EVER given anyone an idea about how the game plays though? All of them are stuck with all assists on and played by people who have 1) don't have enough time to get used to the game 2) are completely useless or 3) a combination of 1 and 2.

Also the clips we see of Loeb playing the game are purely for publicity. All they are there to do is to show the user Loeb giving feedback to the devs. You're reading too much into that.

As was said before, graphics wise it looks decent.

When you look at the stage design of the gravel stages, something's off. E.g. essential pieces of Sweet Lamb are missing like the splash, the roads look flat all the way which is not the case in real life. Although a critical point for D:R where the Sweet Lamb stage is too bumpy compared to real onboard videos. That might also have something to do with the gravity issue in D:R.

Last but not least, stating that it's going to be the best rally simulator on the consoles is risky. When it is released, it might as well be the best rally simulator on the consoles. However that's because there is no simcade/simulation rally game out there yet at that point in time. (Obviously not including RBR on PS2 because nobody plays RBR on a PS2 anymore, I believe.) They will most likely be kicked off their high horse when D:R is released on the consoles. Did I mention I was talking about the consoles?

Stating it is more simulation than simcade is ballsy! I'm not sure that they can fulfill that promise.

That's why racing game reviews should be done ONLY be people who can consistently score top times, as in Top 10-20. Otherwise the review (even first impression) is completely pointless as they can't ever get through the surface, down to the actual stuff that matters.

Also, I assume that Milestone choose people that can't drive, because it won't show obvious flaws in the game. But those are just speculations and game MAY (big impact on MAY) turn out good.

Well it definitely has rewind which is not good.  Hopefully on all assists off/sim mode that is disabled and there is a separate leaderboard for people using it/assists.  Rewind has to be the single worst feature added to racing games.  Totally kills the whole point!  Ugh, today's generation of hand holding smh.

Have to say though it's looking better than the awful awful trailers and footage shown before.  The stages seem nice and narrow, and if the car handling and FFB is any good this could be a lot of fun.  Don't want to get my hopes up cause it's Milestone, but it is looking better as it gets close to release.

Just hard to get a judge on the physics cause apparently every single person that plays the game has never played a racing game in their life and is horrible.  Let's see Loeb driving it!

It's always funny to see people righteously defend games they like (rationalizing & forgiving every issue, accusing critics of being entitled whining perfection-seeking haters, etc.) while they simultaneously rip similar games to shreds over every tiny perceived flaw.

I love the notion that they had to go for 30fps because of trees and clouds
Yeah it is a lame excuse. I'd rather them cap it at 30 and it be consistent than try and get 60 though and it be all over the place.
