@soundfx

Take this artesanal FXs as a refence! cheap and useful.

Take your bottle of water and and rage twist it. Amplify wave. New misfiring sounds. You are welcome.

2nd gen Xbox 360 game more like. The polygon counts and texture res really can't be compared to the PS2 era, it's just exaggerating a little bit too much.
It's stand by the comparison of it largely looking like a higher res version of the original Colin McRae: Dirt.

What I am noticing is that in general, a lot of the cars have very bare liveries. The SX4 in particular stands out like a sore thumb without all it's Go Pro stickers or it's earlier Monster Sport livery that was used in DiRT 3. (Not that Monster either).
Licensing money might have gone to cars and core liveries, but not the sponsors to complete them.

What a community DiRT Rally has. DR drives like hovercrafts on ice but people keeps laughing for other titles because those doesn't look as good as DR.. Well done, ladies and gentlemen. Can't wait for the console guys!

If you have a way of getting informations about driving physics from a video such as... well, any video, then please, do share it with us. Because so far, I haven't met anyone who could tell (not spill out BS, mind the difference) how the driving physics feel without playing the game.

Sorry. 'On ice' was too much since there are no proggressive grip on tarmac.

If you play with cars that drive on rails over a gravel highway then everything else seems to drive like hovercrafts

Nah he's butt hurt about the slagging of the AC DS3 WRC because he was a tester for it.

No I haven't and that's the reason I haven't crusified the title beforehand like you see others doing. People think Milestone are 'the same old Milestone' but somehow Codemasters have very different company than it was back in Gymkhana days. You have to remember that the DR you're driving is almost 1.0 state, boxed, final. Patches will come but hard to believe anything big is gonna change anymore until the DR2.

Don't you see the content in this thread to be a bit ironic..? :)

Iv said it before (although I expect to be let down) but I'm looking forward to see how this fairs out.  It will no doubt be better than WRC 5.  How much better than it, remains to be seen!

No I'm not since AC has some known issues with 4WD systems and there won't be soft surface physics in the game. Tarmac is for pussies.

That's why I'm looking for DR2 and hoping the best for SLRE.

Milestone have also released 3 WRC games since DiRT 3 was released which, remember, was 2011.
SLRE comes only two years after their last rally game. The gap is about 25% longer than the one between DiRT 2 and 3.
Except they've also been jumping from 7th to 8th gen consoles, so it's not purely been refining the game.
To expect a significant re-invention in such a short time is optimistic to the extreme (look at F1 2015, which technically had a 2 year cycle).
There isn't a whole lot of room for a 'new' Milestone in there.

They have put out 2 rally games in the time between DiRT Showdown (Q2 2012) and DiRT Rally (Q2/Q4 2015) and putting the finishing touches on the 3rd.

So to re-cap; they don't have a great track record of significantly improving their product over the course of time and regular iterations and SLRE has had a shorter development cycle with no Early Access style feedback.
I'm sure people would love to be surprised, like they were when DR suddenly appeared out of nowhere in April, but between their reputation and what's been previewed (something that never happened with DR), expectations are not sky high.

I'm not declaring my verdict on the physics but my expectations are not that high.

What I will torpedo is the sound! God above that sound is horrendous! What a miserable, dull sound is that!
If you listen very carefully you can just hear the sound of the Audi 4 E3 PP car. God that's just terrible!
They masked the sound of the Audi and other cars with music just so we wouldn't be able to hear exactly how bad it is!

I am a bit confused when it comes to the graphics. As was said before, from some angles it looks quite good but from other angles it just looks bad. Car models aren't that beautiful either. Pictures do look good but those are seriously polished.

I'll wait for reviews to see what's what with this title. If it turns out to be slightly decent I might buy it when it is on sale and cheap.

WRC was regurgitated & recycled year on year, easy for the devs as locations & car models were just repackaged, re-liveried and sent back out.

Content, locations and car types are all pretty new & unrestricted, with a new approach (scanning etc), so, I would expect 'some' difference.  BUT, if it's the same ole same ole (likely) physics, the frills won't matter a damn.

A lot of bad can be said about the gameplay side of DiRT titles, but the technical side was always great. In that one aspect Codemasters basically never failed. Now let's look at Milestone... well, kind of crap all over the place to be honest. The 30FPS goal for PS4 and Xbone basically prove it's the "good ol' Milestone" we all love xD

That's a bit harsh imo. Dirt Rally isn't perfect by any means, but gravel feels very very good. It's still the only game that I ever tried that I actually get the feeling of driving a RWD on loose surface with tires that actually dig in to the gravel.

Tarmac is still not very good, but that seems to be the case with all games that try to do more than one surface. I'm just glad it isn't the other way around.

Hopefully they will get a green light doing DR2, as the current engine seems to limit many aspects they would like to improve upon.

I can see what @Nahkamarakatti is saying; there are other threads on this forum where we talk about how graphics aren't everything, then everyone is in here slagging a game off that none of us played because it looks poor...

...having said that, we do know that Milestone don't have a great track record thus far and, graphics aside, SLRE clearly doesn't sound very good either. I shall reserve judgment until playing though, as others have said above, my expectations are very low at this point.

I'm too not keen to bash or use harsh words for other titles too much, but that doesn't mean i think they are good.
In case of this Pikes Peaks video it looks better than before and car even has some movement and quite much grip, graphics looks good to me and have some quite natural looking design in placement of vegetation etc. Finland previews looks a bit weird though.
I also hope that their career mode would be proper and car would have differences.

Codemasters suprised us and of course it is possible for Milestone,  i'm how ever thinking too that answering with words like "totally realistic" when asked about realism in facebook and being a little bit too overconfident is not the right way. They may have set bar maybe too high for them self now.

CM was quite honest even from the beginning in my eyes at least, but there is also cultural ways to be considered here so maybe over selling it is not bad in their eyes or from their perspective.

I just hope that they are not just covering things like car sounds etc. With music and shroud of trickery.

Of course i hope for the best like all here. More realistic games would be only great for us.

Yeah there's a press event going on today too. Alex Boiston from Team VVV is tweeting live updates from it. There are some cool ideas in there, like a beginners 2wd class and a pro 2wd cars. So there are smaller club rally type cars and there are kit cars. I would have liked to have seen something like that in dirt, instead of starting out in 50 years old historic cars
