Dirt Rally Desktops ....

What Do I need If I have the 3d-models and self-created liveries to get a result as 2 posts above this??

Is it "just" a software which has to be feeded with those files?

3Ds Max Studio or Blender. Then just place the model with its materials, add whatever objects you want to the scene, some lights, adjust the camera and adjust the render settings in order to get a quality render and thats much it.
You can also try adding a sky on top, to get some more realistic reflections, just like he's doing.

I know how to do it but i lack the models and liveries. Still haven't broken into the game's files due to lack of time at home.

Setting up the materials on the car takes a lot of time because in many cases you have to use different materials for different textures and then tweak the materials' reflections, possible transparency etc. until it looks natural. Also the alpha channels of windows and lights for example have to be adjusted a lot because they aren't simply "plug&play".

Lighting is probably the most complex part after all even though it might seem simple simple because you have to tweak the light sources' intensity and light type a lot to get good results.

PS. My scene doesn't have a sky on top, it's a studio scene with lighting made specifically for a studio setup so the reflections come from actual studio-like light sources

@Jepsertti

I guess it would be to much to ask for the basic scene (even without a car in there)

BTW, I'm using mental ray with architectural material, but I cannot seem to put the lights and windows right. What type of material do you use

Cheers

In a way I would like to share my scene but by keeping it as my own I keep the uniqueness of my renders so I prefer not to share it

I'm mostly using Arch & Design for the materials. Just keep playing around with the material values and experiment with different types of lighting and you'll get what you want at some point :)

Here's another Evo VI with some minor material tweaks (front indicators probably being the most noticeable):

Sharing them is illegal so your only option is to get the models from DiRT Rally or DiRT 4 by yourself.

Alright. Either way, I like the renders you're making, a lot. Specially this last one, the angle is just better and there's the rear side as well.
So if I get the luck of getting the other 2 cars, I'll be forever thankful :D

The Focus and Impreza are next up on the list :) In fact I might do more of the early 2000s WRCs by importing the models from RBR if they aren't too low-poly.

Awesome ;D They might be low poly, although theres newer models from the RSRBR mod.

Looking great, and also the dark scene seems to make reflections better overall.

Yeah I added additional reflection planes to give the cars better reflections in a dark scene because otherwise they would look very "flat" due to the cars reflecting a dark environment

I downloaded them on my desktop last night and wanted to say it was over bright, if it were a real photo it would be over exposed.

This is not DiRT Rally car, its a RBR mod car, Citroen C3 R5. But I hope to see her in DiRT Rally 2.0!

I decided to do some HDRI renders again. Last time I've done this scene was back in October 2016

Oooh, that's a lot better, now perhaps the harshness of the light toned down a little?  It's very hard on the bodywork currently.

Imported some WRCs from RBR into the scene  Sadly there isn't a 2019 livery available for the Yaris yet but if someone makes one I'll gladly render it again (with some different car arrangement most likely)!

Awesome. Still waiting on the Focus and Impreza 2001 though :D
That's one of the things i wanted to do with that era of cars like the WRC 2 Extreme cover. Each separate and then a final picture with all of them aligned like in that picture.
