@BORDER the 306 Maxi needs some work. The lights' glass have almost no detail at all?
Yeah your correct .. the textures on this car are not the best .. i'll have to do a bit of reworking on it

I did quite significant changes to my render scene and I kinda like it now :)

Subaru Impreza R4 (with my own spoiler):

Jep sertti , your renders are looking pretty good. I would make sure the car is sat correctly on the floor plane though .. the tires cutting through the floor spoil the effect a little. Also for me the scene lighting needs to be a bit whiter / cleaner.. you have a sort of yellow hue to it which makes the colours a little muted and gives the scene a daylight hue .. but indoors in a studio effect. Try and fill up the render window a little more to loose the surrounding area will help the effect some .. what application are yoj using to render ?

Don't take my comments to personal btw ... im no render master ... . Just trying to offer a few tips

Decent tips, and by the way, I know you don't use Blender, but BlenderGuru put out a video of how to render on an image, just in case that interests you.

Thank you guys for your feedback. @BORDER I noticed the same thing about car not correctly sitting on the floor plane, but in fact it's sitting there correctly but those shadows are causing it to look like it's either floating or going through the ground. I'll look into it again today.

About the yellow hue - well that's caused by my lighting setup which is haze based. I really like the look of that hazy lighting but I'll do you a render today without the haze effect so you can tell your opinion on it.

Filling up the render window is something I've planned to do so I can add more shading to the ground.

I'm using 3DS Max 2014 with Mental Ray. And don't worry, you gave great feedback which I'll look into later today and see if the renders become better after that.

@JZStudios thanks for your feedback too, but I don't think I would benefit from that video since I'm using a different program and I think a pretty unique lighting setup. :)

Good .. im no render master and didnt want to come across harsh or big headed. I too like the hazy hue buy its the wrong kind of light in a studio type environment .. IMO. Maybe the shadowing under the car could be better dispersed to help with the grounding effect . Look forward to seeing the scene with white lighting

Well I was more of telling @BORDER, but I would assume you could still figure it out for 3DS, but again, only if your interested. @BORDER's renders are nice enough, but a background and environment lighting would bring some more life, but he's going for studio shots.

FORD RS200 GROUP B ..... getting near the end of cars now

There are all those liveries too.  We could keep you busy for a long time.  Lol

How come the RS200 and M3 have black rims? Those liveries are supposed to have white rims from what I've seen.
The RS200 actually is supposed to have silver rims ... and the M3 white rims yes ... I am making coloured rim files as I go for cars and just not bothering to correct them for the render ... these are not to be 100% correct they are just renders I am taking after creating the render scene. I have to assign a load of materials / textues and settings .. these renders are basically a test of the parameters to " set " the scene.
Once the scenes have been created I am then free to render whatever I want ...

Take a look at the Delta S4 .. the wheels are off the Integrale Evo .. personally although the STEEL wheels in the game are correct ... they look shite .. so have created a scene where it is Tarmac form with some better wheels.

The Metro 6R4 has wheels from the 306 maxi on it also ... standard wheels look rubbish.

I have exported all of the cars in " tarmac " form ..and generally in rallies they put the better wheels on the car .. unforunately .. some of the cars still have crap wheels even in tarmac guise ..

Cossie with 306 maxi wheels on  ... looks way better than standard

Well, rubbish looks or not, they're part of the original cars. Replacing them removes some of their charm - and in my opinion the RS200 as well as the M3 looks a lot worse. The S4 looks ok, but the group B vibe is gone. Each to their own I suppose.

The Escort RS Cosworth group A also ran with those six spoke Speedlines, and personally I think it does look a lot better than those OZ Racing's.
Just like in your render, Snijers his escort had those Speedlines. Could it be possible to change wheels in the game itself?

I have no idea how to do it .. but yes .. cars are being added to DR .. so ne reason why wheels can't be adjusted... and BTW those wheels on the cossie IRRC are compomotive ;-)

@ Porkhammer ... I have the render scenes with the correct standard wheels  ... for the rs200 & bmw are literally a wheel texture change and its 100% correct [ the wheels are correct .. it's just the colour ] .. My apologies for not keeping it accurate .. I had no idea it would upset anyone ... lol. I suppose  ... you could always render one yourself ??

As you can see with the Delta ... more likely ..it's Codies that havent included ALL the correct wheels configurations ... [ that is actually Marku's car too .. ]

Who's upset? I'm just pointing out that original is in most cases better. I don't do rendering though. I was collecting your renders for future wallpaper use, however... but if it doesn't look authentic I'm just not interested. I'm sure other people are though, so don't stop what you're doing by any means.

Here's the " original 6R4 ..with 6 spoke wheels on ... unfortunatley the 306 maxi ones ingame are the nearest I could get ... I think if it's 100% accurate your after ...you should maybe contact codemasters and ask them to include correct parts for correct scenarios ... becuase as it currently stands ..in some area's ..this game is not correct ..

Actually codies' Metro wheels are correct for tarmac, so I'm not sure what you're on about.
Of course the ones you posted are also correct; they used a few different rims, but smacking the Maxi rims on it looks a bit meh.

The whole point being ... you want them to look exactly as they do in the game .. which is not necessarily 100% correct ... ALL the time. Cars do have wheels changed ..and im sure at some point ... colours too maybe ... I will be creating the scenes and renders of the RS / BM / 6R4 and S4 all with correct rims .. and colours on .. just for you .. ;-)

In the meantime ... I put the hours in to create them ... I will allow myself to render some things .. AS I WANT .. :-) .. and were all good

Remember what I said on page 6?

Thanks though.
