IN the meantime .... here's one I did earlier

A lot of yellow. Nice render, but I wonder what a complementary scheme would look like.

I know its not easy to get right, but could someone try to render one on some sort of gravel texture (maybe with a bump map).  I am just curious if it can be done and what it would look like?

@ jepsertti

That looks a lot better , but can I suggest you " up " the ambient lighting ... the entire scene seems a fair bit darker than mine ... reflections are good and shadows are a good deal better

Wouldn't it be better to make some quick "warehouse" setting in 3D instead of using a pixelated image? Just asking.

Did some changes and I really like it a lot now. I'm still going to do some fixes to the render scene and then I'll do some other cars.

It would be better sure .. but I'm not so brilliant with 3D creation .. for a competent 3D artist it would be fairly simple and quick .. for me .. very time consuming and no so simple .. but I will create one when I get some time

There's always an option of using an existing one. Unless there doesn't exist a site where people share some pre-made 3D stuff (can't imagine that doesn't exist tbh).

From another racing title ... it's part of the car selection screens ...  at some point i'll get round to making an environment similar to this .. but still have quite a few scenes to make for cars before I start getting to that ...

hmmm. I don't know if you played Forza 4, but they made a HDRI and applied it to the inside of a sphere and mapped a ground plane for the car to sit on. Worked really well actually, until you got close to the edge, but swinging around the car you couldn't tell.

I havent played forza .. not really my thing .. but I do understand what your saying ... I have a render scene thats setup like a fruit bowl with the car sat in the bottom of it .. works in the same way ..

Thanks @meerkat80 for this awesome livery!
If I may .. I would say you have reflection set a little high ... games render the cars all Shiney .. and to me this looks quite unrealistic .. I don't think I have ever seen a car with this amount of High Gloss ... unless its a chrome wrap or something .. Sorry not trying to be negative just trying to be honest and give my opinion ... As I have said before I am no render GURU ... it's just what pleases the eye

Have you imported the car as a whole into the scene , or individual parts ...

The reason I ask is it looks as if the Reflection is set across the entire car [ except the glass ] , whereas on mine each texture has its own reflective properties ... that's how the body and glass are glossy [ infact at different levels too ] , but the wheels are almost matt in the shine they have ..

Thanks for your feedback.

The car is imported in seperate parts and there different reflection parameters in that scene. The windows, lights, tires etc. are a lot different in terms of reflectivity compared to the car body like you can see. The wheels have also a lot less reflections than the car body, but they're not completely matte because I like that they have a bit of reflections.

Like you may know, if I had the same reflection parameters across the whole car, it would look ridiculous... ;)

Just to let you know, even matte rims, aren't really matte, they have an amount of sheen to them, mostly at oblique angles. Basically always have a slight amount of gloss unless it's something like cloth. I work at a car wash now, and I clean plenty of rims. The overall "shininess" is probably more due to the size of the light source, and darker colors get more reflective, black is almost mirror-like, and oddly enough, white is a bit more toned down, or perhaps just less noticeable.
Back to Forza, I think they only did it with 4, but it was quite a simple setup that worked really well, should probably figure out how to do it myself.
