Anyone else getting too much tire punctures in Finland?

Recommended Posts

Is the co-driver actually supposed to inform the driver about what tire got punctured/lost? I'm sure the driver would know this first as he is controlling the car after all and would feel that there's something wrong, making the comment by the co-driver unnecessary.

I honestly can't stand the fact that every single time a tire is punctured, the co-driver immediately tells me what tire got punctured, even when the crash/spin is still going on or before I am able to regain control of the car. He should be asking if I'm alright after what just happened (only if the tire(s) got punctured due to a high impact, like a crash or after hitting a tree or rock at medium - high speed).

Yea it's a pretty gamey feature but I guess they wanna make sure you know. Not really needed imo, you'll soon find out.

It's funny, because my tires will sometimes just sort of decide "No, I don't like holding air." and they pop, but my codriver never says anything until it tears off and I spin into a tree with a big crash. "Is the left rear out?"

Try adjusting your setting similar to screenshot below. The values and amplitudes will vary between cars. Do same thing for Rear Damping. If the car feels too floaty change your "Rebound" to be default or one level upper than default. Pretty much try shakedown somewhere with big jump and go with testing for around 15-20 minutes with different combinations in damping. You'll finally find a right setup that suits your car and driving style. It's fun, you just need to want it to be :)

I want to say that punctures happen way too easily as well. Even in Monaco by colliding with snow banks destroys tires.
It's way too punishing for me and ruins fun, especially when other kinds of damage is very forgiving.

versedi thanks for sharing, but I can't be bothered tweaking settings and trying them out over and over again just to decrease the chance of getting a tire puncture :)

I agree with too many punctures occurring in snow and especially on Finnish tracks. Since I am not a car setup kinda guy I also don't like the thought of having to avoid punctures by fiddling with car setup.

I get a puncture from every second collision with barrier in rallycross. Wtf  this is bullshit.
Most cars get punctures from hitting barriers. The solution is simple - leave the barriers alone.

I got a puncture on the opposite side of the car when I hit a barrier.

I've smashed headlights by booping into things with the rear. Who said Dirt Rally's logic is flawless? :D

I don't do RX much, but I'll give it a go and see if I'm having the same issue. Does it happen on all RX circuits?

I got a puncture four times in a row from first barrier in Hell circuit.

I don't know... I feel like that depends on the strength of the "boop. "

Finished the Pro and Elite championship last weekend without a puncture (during my second playthrough). I did get one puncture in my first Masters rally in Finland yesterday but it was well deserved. You just got to drive more carefully, I suppose. ;)

^^Nah, it's not our driving, it's definitely the tyres ;) Did you use different setups instead of default ones?

Most punctures I get don't even involve enough force for them to be considered plausible. It has almost become predictable, especially in Finland, where it seems to occur the most.

Did a barrel roll in the 405 T16 in Pikes Peak while using the banks on the right side, few corners into the stage... got a puncture on the landing, even though it was as perfect landing as it could've ever been. At least I didn't got informed about it, since there wasn't a co-pilot in the car. Hah, take that xD

I am still using default setups. And it's not that I am driving slowly: I won that Finland Masters rally with 6 stage wins. I have to add my default car is the Fulvia so maybe it's lower speed also helps here LOL Then again, even that Fulvia can be terrifying fast in Finland and some of my landings (after some of those HUGE jumps at full speed) were quite hard (that Fulvia really has weight!!!) but I still got only one puncture and as I said, it was to be expected (crash sideways into rocks).

Alright, thanks for the info. I was about to ask what car(s) you used but you already replied :) The Fulvia is indeed one of the slower cars but still, Finland is unforgiving. Lovely little car to drive, btw.

Talking about tires, anyone else find that the wheels and/or their tires on some cars are too big? The Escort Mk II, Integrale and Ibiza for example. There are some other cars as well that I can't recall now.

Yet again every time I get a puncture my co driver never bother to tell me.
