Anyone else getting too much tire punctures in Finland?

Recommended Posts

If you dont puncture the Fulvia at Finland, you are not taking jumps fast enough.

I didnt faced yet a single car that dont get punctures on "hard" landings.

There is a long straight with huge jumps in Finland and I drove the longest part with 100% throttle. Full speed. No puncture. It was with default setup though, which I suppose makes a difference. But so far I don't need setups.

:)

you will need custom cars setups if you want top tier times

About Fulvia+Finland; default gear ratio have about 150km/h top speed. If you set longer ratios you can reach 170 km/h without to much effort... and the problems will begin 100% sure

Well, that is yet another reason to not use setups then. ;) I don't want to win easily and all the time, which would happen with custom setups, and I don't want punctures LOL
BTW I am serious about not wanting to win all the time. I want the game to stay a challenge and I want to fight hard to win a championship. And I only play offline and am not interested at ALL how fast other (real) people are and how my times compare. I couldn't care less. I love the offline career and the challenge it offers me!

I pretty much only do custom events, and I also happen to like Greece, unlike most of the population.

Each to his own then. ;)

But the "human reference" will be always more challenging.

Enjoy mate!

After ending my second career one of these days I think I will switch to custom championships: the 'official' career is nice but Masters with 5 (and soon 6) times 12 stages is a bit much for me time wise, specially if that is all there is left to do (you can't redo championships at lower levels). Masters with 6 stages is more convenient for me. Pity though that you can't pick the stages yourself to prevent repetition... I really hope CM will make the custom championships FULL customizable.

Just got a puncture in the Lancia 037. In Germany. This has to be fixed, as it drove me to such a point that I'm not gonna touch the game until this issue will be resolved.

In case someone is wondering, the table performed a triple front flip after that.

I understand how the "rage quit and not coming back works".

But you will be back soon :) (I hope so)

Nope. As long as this won't get fixed, I'm staying away as far as possible. If the urge to play will be too strong, I'll go to a point of un-installing the game, maybe even removing from Steam library.
I'm not the type to rage quit easily, most of the time I'll fight through and deal with issues, but this... just gets too much on my nerves. It's everywhere, it makes me unable to push hard, which in turn makes it impossible for me to enjoy racing.

I got a puncture from driving under a advertisement board :c
This weekly finland stage gave me punctures on 4 stages 3 of them from big jumps and one from that ad board. While the roof scraped it slightly it didn't even slow me down, but I still had to get a puncture from it.

One time on Wales I drove under a sign. The car was pushed underground then popped back out and I got some air and did a lateral spin. No punctured tires though.

Drove the last 3/4 of monthly stages yesterday. On my second stage at Finland, Naarajärvi (short one) I got 3 punctures and lost all tires except front right. I didn't hit anything, all the punctures came from jump landings. Of course after the stage my car looked a bit broken because I hit some trees when driving with only one tyre ^^

Here's a screenshot where front left is flat and both rear tires are gone: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=566067831. I lost the front left soon after that.

I also got punctures in the beginning of both long stages in Finland (rain, gravel and 3 tires equals fun times). Out of 6 stages I had at least one puncture in 3 stages. All from jump landings. I did soften the dampers which helped a bit but still got two punctures after that change.

Same here, lost half of day today while was trying to do at least 1st stage of weekly finland on that crazy T16 without a huge dmg. Got usual punctures too, no matter to car settings.

Maybe in Finland it's different, but I just did a Daily in Germany with the Fulvia with a default setup and it topped out at about 180km/h

You are right. I confused Fulvia/mini. The Mini is the one with very short top speed by default.
Fulvia gets around 188km/h at defaults (for tarmac AFAIK)

The problem with Fulvia is setting  wider gearbox ratios kills totally any acceleration.

It happens often, because as it happens it's not just one car that goes through the stage, so there is a high chance of some debris being on the road. Also, the punctures happen everywhere, Germany, Monte Carlo, Wales, Greece and probably they will happen as often if not even more in Sweden. It's a broken part of the game, no point in defending it. If you can get a puncture from scratching a snow bank, then you know there's something seriously wrong.

Heck, the entire damage system is just wonky as hell. Hit left side, your right side gets damaged...

Rolls happen more often than punctures.  In DiRT, the likelihood of rolling is decreased by the fact that you are driving with flat tyres 60% of the time!!!  B)

Group B cars should be almost impossible to take proper jumps but not because of the tyres. Shock absorbers should be the first ones failing. Group B cars had terrible suspensions irl because of the very strict regulations.

Well yes, I also think shocks should blow more often than tyres (especially on those long jumps), but in every rally I've seen in real life there was at least one or two cars with a flat tyre.
I rarely blow a tyre, but I admit I hit the brakes before lots of jumps in Finland.
Maybe it's not the frequency but the causes what's not quite right.

Please link to some footage of rally cars getting blowouts from landings. Cause I can't ever recall seeing it. You're trying to defend some behavior that isn't right by using a completely different (and wrong) argument. Because punctures are at times a frequent consequence in rallying, we should accept getting punctures in the game on landings. :|
