Dytut 89 Posted January 19, 2017 Guess the new cars with a more group B feel directly brought out the complete group B retardedness of the spectators aswell.

RallyDriven 398 Posted January 19, 2017 There's an oboard and you can 100% see that there was a spectator in the ditch where Paddon went off, and can then see them faking back down after on the outside camera. Unfortunately it's not looking great at the moment. Sad for the spectator, Hayden and John, and the sport as a whole
Underkex 0 Posted January 19, 2017 I think like this web. The spectator falls. The slow-mo helps.http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/motorsport/88601634/hayden-paddon-crashes-in-monte-carlo-spectator-injured
RallyDriven 398 Posted January 19, 2017 I hope it's true, but I've seen a nasty picture on twitter which I won't share which looks like a person being hit by the car as it hits the bank :( hipenim weong though

The spectator flies to the slope and then rolls down the slope. The part where he gets hit isn't really well visible because of it being dark and everything happening so quickly but if you watch it many times you'll see what really happened.Finnish media also told first that "a spectator fell" but a moment later they changed it to "a spectator got hit". KevM 44 Posted January 19, 2017 I stick by the 'he fell' theory. I will be surprised if that's not the case (hopefully)
Dytut 89 Posted January 19, 2017 It's hard to say if the spectator was in the ditch and got thrown up by Paddons car, or if he sat on the ledge and fell down by the impact. On the onboard it looks like there is a spectator in the ditch, and if he was there then it might be really bad. If he was on the ledge it's more of a fall, which might be bad but probably not more than a few broken bones and a concussion. Edit: Studied both a bit more, and yeah. Guy in dark clothes stands there taking pictures, you can see the flash from the camera, and I'm quite sure he gets hit and thrown up the cliff. The placement fits, and you can see a dark thing getting thrown up. That's one bad hit.
PaloSamo 0 Posted January 19, 2017 Unfortunately he did get hit by i20's rear-end. You can clearly see him taking pictures/filming on the side of the road from Hyundai's on-board camera moments before impact. Hopefully he will be OK. Interestingly, WRC.com doesn't even mention a spectator being involved...http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/january-2017/monte-ss1/page/4221--12-12-.html
RallyDriven 398 Posted January 19, 2017 I'm hoping he fell, but it's really not looking good. The onboard definitely shows a person there, and the outside shows someone falling violently down the hill. There were people rushing over to the person as well. Hoping for some good news soon

Etirion 2 Posted January 19, 2017 I've seen a picture that very clearly shows him being hit, I obviously wont be sharing it here but its 100% clear, french news are also reporting he has died. http://www.dhnet.be/sports/moteurs/drame-au-rallye-monte-carlo-un-pilote-belge-a-assiste-au-crash-mortel-video-58812c49cd70e747fb4d3b8b (i just used google translate)
Underkex 0 Posted January 19, 2017 I suppose you are right 'cause some webs report the spectator has died.
Dytut 89 Posted January 19, 2017 Just saw some unconfirmed reports that it was a press photographer who died from the injuries. Nothing confirmed yet though.
RallyDriven 398 Posted January 19, 2017 Nothing official. A lot of unofficial reports suggesting an air ambulance, and a few French and Spanish press saying a fatality. We will have to wait for something official, I'm hopeful for good news, but I doubt it will be

Dytut 89 Posted January 19, 2017 http://www.svt.se/sport/motorsport/monte-carlo-rallyt-stoppat-efter-kraschSwedish news says it's confirmed that Haydens car hit the spectator with the rear. So it looks rather bad.
Etirion 2 Posted January 19, 2017 Well he definitly hit him like I've said I've seen a picture that shows the moment of impact very clearly, I just really hope that french article I linked isnt correct and he survived it.

Etirion 2 Posted January 19, 2017 Paddon also tweeted stuff out now, nothing on the spectator yet so far though.https://twitter.com/HaydenPaddon/status/822208747841929216https://twitter.com/HaydenPaddon/status/822208792322523136
Jepsertti 26 Posted January 19, 2017 According to a Belgium news website "Dhnet" the spectator has died from his injuries. I really don't want to believe that until there's official confirmation.
RallyDriven 398 Posted January 19, 2017 I'd imagine that's from Paddon'a press team, doubt he would be in a position to post that yet. And he wouldn't be allowed to comment on the spectator at this time, not his job to say such things, nor would he probably want to
KevM 44 Posted January 19, 2017 French reports are that the spectator was injured, took a heart attack & was airlifted to Nice hospital
