F1 Games - General Wondering

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,
I have been reading this forum and there is a few things that I want to discuss and be answered.
First, is there something in these new generation consoles that doesn't support split screen gameplay? If there is, what?
Because I believe I saw a comment from @Lozzy like a month ago which said something that not many games have this game mode anymore and it's not coming back.
Second, if split screen gameplay could be added back in racing games (especially F1) then why not add it?
I even saw a guy here who was trying to get people to sign an address to bring back split screen game mode . Now, I believe Lozzy (not 100% sure) said that they took a look at the data of split screen and said that the amount of players was low in this game mode comparing to other game modes  and this was one of the reasons why they don't make it anymore.
If these consoles support it I hope codies makes the difference and adds it on the next game even if every other racing game is not.
I mean this is really a win-win situation;
- Codies being the one game making company who brings back split screen
- One more game mode for the players to play (because let's face it there isn't many atm)
- Game mode which probably (and hopefully) will work better than online racing
One reason I wrote this is that there are still players who are "old-fashioned" and would love to race like they used to before. And I believe people would play this game mode more than you think. Especially if you add an option like COD does where you can select a lan/local party where you can add one guest per one player
-> two consoles, two tvs, two players plus one split screen guest each = four players. I wouldn't mind to get my console with me at my friends house and have a good game night with friends and F1, the more the merrier of course.
But yeah coming back to this split screen thing, I would like to have one multiplayer game mode without the lag and online problems.
Like co-op championship in past games!
In F12015 we have been writing racing results on paper because we want to play the whole season and the game doesn't save online results.

There is so much potential to make a very good F1 game with:
-Proper career mode, like in fifa you have this "Be a pro"- game mode where you start at the very bottom and make your way to the top. I personally would love to see a 2 person career mode like this in F1.
- Offline multiplayer (co-op championship, split screen)
- Safety car and virtual safety car
- Drivers switching teams in career mode after seasons (I don't know if there is a license problem with this)
- AI being more defensive when you trying to overtake them and AI making more little errors and not always following the racing line in a queue

Not going for the full F1 "wish list" here because there are people who already have made very good lists and wishes but just to remind that the F1 world is quite awesome and for me would be even more amazing to feel it all in the game too.

Feel free to comment and I hope Im not the only one who wishes the split screen to come back.

As much as I hate to say it, those days of split screen racing are long gone.  Just the same as when you bought a console you also got 2 controllers.  It's all about money imho.  Take F1 2015 fir example, if you wanted to play with a friend then you'll both need a copy of the game, console, game pad, tv and Internet connection....sad when you think about it.

This is not a case of they don't support it, it's a simple case of market forces. Not many people play split screen and it's expensive to implement (in terms of man hours) so the return on investment i.e. people who weren't going to buy the game but do because it has this feature does not make it worthwhile. It's not quite as cynical as coolieboy makes out but in the age of the internet people are a lot less likely to go to a mates house to play split screen than they are to meet online and both play together there. It's no coincidence that very few if any games that support split screen now.

Are there fewer split-screen games because there are fewer split-screen gamers?

Or are there fewer split-screen gamers because there are fewer split-screen games?

Which came first? The chicken? Or the egg?
:)

Online multiplayer simply replaced offline multiplayer... You used to have splitscreen because that was the only way to play with your friends, before you could go on the internet with your consoles...

...And then online multi-player got plagued by toxic trolls, dodgy match-making, laggy hosts/servers, glitches/bugs, griefers, & cheaters, which drives a lot of players back to co-op & couch multi-player gaming.

@Lozzy big question, is online Co-Op making a return next year?

I highly doubt they've decided on next years features yet other than the fact it'll contain all the teams, drivers and tracks of the 2016 championship

Do you think we can make a game in six months?! We've got the vast majority of features under way but we're not talking specifics yet. Jenny will be giving out more information once the time is right.

No what I meant was it's likely it  won't all  be 100% finalised yet I don't think. I'm not saying you don't have things underway as I knew you would have by now given you've only got about 6 months before you release again.

One thing I would like to know is co-op going to have the option of  teammate vs teammate or four players team vs team in the future

You can't even make one in a year. Or 6 years for that matter
