Retirements (Lozzy?)

Recommended Posts

Is it me or is there a lack of retirements in the game? I only ever see 1 a race.

Can we increase the frequency of these like we could in F1 2014

With the season now over hopefully Codemasters can use the dnf results from the season and adjust the teams accordingly.

That's not something we'll be changing at this stage, sorry.
Disappointing. Any reason it is not an option in the game?

If this is meant to be a F1 racing simulator it's very poor that you don't update the game to what is happening in the real world or even give us the option to change it ourselves (i.e. a slider)

It would take too long...
or
It would be too difficult to implement...
or
Most of the team have moved onto 2016 and so we must prioritize fixes and improvements, this isn't important enough...
or
Soon

None of that gets past the fact it was not included in the game from the start. It's meant to be a racing simulator.

At this stage means for 2015. If we were to change this now it's going to need a lot of testing, that means either delaying the PS4 patch further or doing it for Xbox One probably delaying that and then having to patch PS4 again to add this. To me unfortunately that's not something that is worthwhile to me given the marginal improvement in the F1 experience some people will get from it.

It's also not as simple as just making some AI retire, if the player isn't as likely to have to retire as the AI then you're going to finish artificially high in the championship and be back on here telling me that it's too easy to be drivers champion etc because you're picking up points at every race where as the AI are not. So, I'm sorry you're not happy with how it's balanced but it's something we won't look at again until 16.

Thank you for this post Lozzy.

I was a bit unsure with what you meant with this stage. So I am glad you have clarified.

I understand your reasoning now and see how difficult it would be. Hopefully as you say it is looked at for F1 2016 in terms of both AI chance of retirement and our own chance of retirement due to mechanical failure etc.

So basically Lozzy, what you are saying (to PC users anyway) is, "for F1 2015, what you see is what you get"?

You might be right. After this PS4 patch I think that will be it for post launch support for the game.  PC will see another patch for updated liveries around the same time as xbox1.

@lozzy Instead of retirements for the next F1 game could you have MGU-K failures with loss off power in qually and race? After Qually you could start from the pitlane and have it replaced for the race. Mid way through the race you could lose power and regain it the same way you have DRS faults on the car

hobbsy777 no, you're still due the second sports update and strict rules.

And then that's it? That will be the completed F1 2015 game as far as cm is concerned? no more fixes?

I think that's it for F1 2015 after this ps4 patch.  Going to finish up a championship season with Mercedes then call it quits. Probably going to trade it in for FIA WRC 2015.  And if I do need a fix of open wheel racing then I always have the great Pcars to play.

Trust me, WRC 2015 is not that good. Even Dirt Rally is better.
Well, the Retirements part was always tricky, and I think The number could be slightly randomised (for example from 0 to 4). Retirements aren't a big problem, it's just that even in real life the number sometimes is 0, sometimes 1 (like in Brazil and Abu Dhabi), but sometimes it reaches big numbers (I guess Australia topped this year?).
