I have a Mk2 sized itch that needs scratching. However, considering my imbalanced love for the Mk2 has had me overlook other cars in the class, I may choose something different... just not the Stratos. I need the safety of restarts to use that thing.

I love the 70's class, I would find it hard to choose a car, they all have their merits!

2 Night/Wet long stages in a row was too much. Made a very uncommon mistake on fifth, and did a 180 spin... Damn. Final Split too D:

Otherwise - Kadett did well!

I haven't really driven the 70s cars since v2, only spent any decent time with the M3. So I think I'll reacquaint myself with the Stratos and see if I can make it through alive.

1st stage, no ability to change setup for some reason even though Vehicle Tuning is available... ok, gonna deal with the lack of 1st gear on the Cossie somehow.

2nd and 3rd stage went well, I suck at snow with RWD, then again I shouldn't be surprised with fully locked diff and a gamepad. In any case, 4th stage happend... and a puncture... near the half point. Tried driving with it till the snow part but tire blew off completely, I spun and took me ages to get back. 2 minutes behind. Fuck.

Rest went mainly without much issues, spin on the 7th stage. Ehh, my consistency sucks so much it creates a a stronger vacuum than the outer space -_-

Had a roll on the last stage, lost about 20 seconds, but overall had a nice run with one world record time. I just can't believe how good the Kadett is... I'm really enjoying it.

RWD's on ice are not my favorite :D

Didn't had any serious accidents. But I had way way way to many spins....
Can't believe the Opel is that good? It has the second worst Power to weight ratio in the 70's , how do you move it so fast?

My run through Vallee Descendante shows how quick that Opel is, probably my favourite stage in the game and one i've done many many miles on. CrazyNevada was 8.7 seconds faster than me and I had a damn near perfect run. Can't believe it.

^ that's not a complaint btw just an observation
Well, there's a chance you've encountered a slowbug. And yes, Devs know about it already.

Are we talking about the same game? Opel has THE BEST power to weight ratio out of all the 70s cars. 240BHP/950kg. Escort has more power (250BHP) but it also weighs about 100kg more. Stratos weighs a bit more as well and Fiat is just heavy and slow.

Oh f*** , you're right. Seems my head-calculation-skills are a bit rusty. Hmm to late to change now, but at least I know what I will drive in the DRC Season 2. The car from Rüsselsheim, the german car maker with the lowest reputation :D

Yes, the 70s are sort of unrealistic in terms of speed. The Stratos and Escort match up quite well and have different strenghts, but the Fiat should be equal to the Escort (better on smooth terrain, while the Escort was always very good in rough and muddy conditions). And the Kadett has too much power, compared to real life.

Another bunch of pb's and I'm done :) also recorded my replay of stage 8 as I was only 4.4 sec from the stage win and only 8 away from the stage WR! That's good for me :D

Laugh as much as you want, but it's not a "fairy tale". Your first event after starting up the game has a chance (rather high) of quite literally making you slower. Sometimes that appears as lack of grip, sometimes car is heavier, but end result is always the same. Your perfect run in a slowbug will be slower than a crappy run without it. Restarting the stage doesn't help, you have to complete the event. That includes multiple stages. Nowadays the first thing I do after starting up the game is to do a quick event to make sure the slowbug is not there.

Tested quite few times by myself (it's most noticeable on Monte Carlo), also today even @Snaky115 realised how big of a deal this is. @Porkhammer quite often mentioned how his perfect practice runs for the Dailies were slower than the actual runs themselves, which is due to this bug.

Funny, i too noticed my first thing after starting up the game would give me odd steering sometimes, way more twitchy.

There are basically two variations that I found of it so far. First is the car has less grip, slides more, generally speaking, a lot less unstable, which depending on the car can seem to be more twitchy.
The second is that the car feels a lot heavier, which translates into a lot more understeer in the corners. This might make the car seem easier to control in the slides but you'll most likely find the car... sluggish.

The worst thing about this bug is that it happens at random. You can't be 100% sure it will happen. Heck, I'm still not 100% sure it can happen only after starting up the game or maybe it can hit mid through an event, or while starting multiple events, etc.

Well sheet :(

I did wonder, hadn't pursued it any though, i just noticed that my first event after loading the game, there was a high chance of my steering feeling pretty bad.  Glad the devs are aware, i'd love to know if they have been able to nail it down/fix it.
If they haven't, i would gladly try and assist in testing/looking for it if it were possible.

I did gave them a thorough description along with information where it's easiest to find. I can't imagine it would take more than an hour to encounter the bug. If they can re-produce then fixing it should be a matter of time. Would be nice if the fix could be deployed in the ASAP form, but if it will be deployed on April I'm not gonna complain.
For now like I said, just do a quick first event and be done with it. I propose Monte Carlo's "Approche du Col de Turini - Montee". It takes about 2 minutes 20s to finish.

I finally saw the Slowbug in massive force, yes. I was doing Vallee Descendante Wet runs, just setup stuff after i had done Monte for league.

Fresh start, Wet Vallee. Did a 7m 21s. Handling felt ... nearly same-ish? Like, 5% more oversteer happened, but it seems to have been mostly weight, as i started a new event after, same conditions - my new wet Vallee PB 7m 14s, with mostly same racing lines. SEVEN SECONDS. That blew my mind.

I have an almost free afternoon so I'll try to hit the stages...oh wait - I don't have a clue what to pick!

That would explain my 1 minute off with almost perfect run with the MKII in 1st stage of the league.... I always thought that's just the getting the feeling with the wheel, lol.
Second thing - after first stage I've had all setups into total gravel - softest setup possible. Maybe it's a few of bugs summing up? [if I remember correctly last time I've driven this car is in greece - owner's event]

P.S. If I see my setup loaded "Asphalt" I always have to check if it's really loaded because 80% of the time it's some other setup activated with just this displayed as loaded.

It can explain of up to 10-15 seconds (stage length and car dependent naturally). The other 50 seconds come from what I believe is a different interpretation of the term "almost perfect run" xD
