DiRTy Forumers League

Recommended Posts

Adopted a safety first strategy in Sweden. Not counting Crazy Nevada, I lost a few seconds every stage and had the odd spin.

Then, in the last stage, my electrical gremlin decided to show up again. Suddenly, my rear brakes were locked, so I could just crawl. Paused, checked the cables, drove a few meters, paused again, reset my controls, drove a few meters, paused... After a few tries, some swearing and thoughts about retiring, the brakes were suddenly free again and I could finish the stage at normal speed. Lost maybe one and a half minute. I would have been last at the moment anyway, but it still sucks.

I guess I have to check for those used g27's on ebay again...

Well, that was a crap rally for me. Sweden is by far my worst rally on the calendar. The stage design is great, but I hate driving it, and I just can't seem to improve.

Who in this league uses 900/Soft Lock? I need a realistic time to aim for so I can at least try and get better. Until then, I might stop doing this rally competitively until I feel better about it.

I run 1000 degrees and soft lock, and we usually have nice battles so... come at me! ;-)

Not this time round! I was terrible. Get me back on gravel or tarmac and I can be competitive again

I was terrible at Sweden up until 2 weeks ago when I started to get a feel for it. For me it was all about being smoother with the inputs, even when I have to salvage a situation after a mistake. Big movements means spins :-)

I think I'll go back to basics with it, and treat it like a Sunday drive.

Put rear brake bias and steer with brakes in the corners. Helps massively. And a must technique for driving kit cars on the snow.

Fuck it.
First retirement in this league. Felt like the car just kept changing its own weight from stage to stage. One stage 'woo AGILE' on the reverse 'F U m8 imma hug a rock.'

Welp, the rally would've went completely smooth, if it weren't for the night stage (surprise, surprise) and the 7th stage which was littered with spins...

Still, I'm quite happy with my performance. One of my smoother runs in the whole history of this League I believe.

Mine was unconcentrated. Kept pace with Ryo decently when I was clean, but massive amounts of real silly spins and small offs was in the cards for me. There are nights when you really shouldn't try rallying, it seems ;-)

Only did the first stage so far, which didn't go TOO horribly bad. I lost around 19 seconds to Ryu because I bit the inside of a corner and rolled, then hit a wall at high speed because Paul can't call notes on time.

Just like with other leagues, and dailies, I'm not able to compete in this rally because RaceNet is broken for me :/
Again? o.O
Yup.
I went back on, and managed to get a daily done, but then I went to try and do a league event again but it threw me out after I set my car up and loaded the stage. It doesn't even get as far as showing the car on the start line; it instantly starts a load screen to throw me back to the menu.

Hey, so i know the fix for this, follow exactly and you'll be good again :)

Delete contents inc. sub folders of the dirt rally directory.
Tell steam to validate the cache.

Do not do any other variation of this.

Enjoy again.

Decent start, managed to keep Arete behind in the first 4 stages, but the night stage killed me. Had two crashes with resets, and that was the end of our fight. SS6+7 were okay, but another stupid mistake and reset in SS8 dropped me further back.

Well, I'm getting closer. At this rate, the last two events will be a cakewalk...

Greece + night = cancer

Scientifically proven at this point xD

SCREW EVERYTHING

I retired on the first stage after embedding myself into a tree after a healthy amount of rolls prior. I blame it on the damn plain livery. Plain liveries give me bad luck.

Bastards.

Cheers, I'll try tomorrow, after I've backed-up my cars folder with all my skins :P

Yeah, that's the only problem, you're using mod manager, right?

3rd out of 3. Where is everybody?

Maybe we need some new recruits here.

The amount of regular forumers is decreasing. It's only a natural thing for a game that is not an MMO and to top it off there are already hints at a new one being made. So I can safely assume a lot of people went "well, was fun, no more wasting time with this forum then for now". Some also have IRL stuff and so on and so so forth.

The problem could be duplication.  The forum now has 2 prominent leagues, running the same locations at the same time & with the same car class.  This one is restrictive on membership and the other one is not?

The other one is for 1 post wonders, this one is for actual forumers. I don't think it's that hard to figure out -_-
The whole intent of this league from the beginning was to be only for forumers, not some random people that come in here (which is the only reason why I posted it in General Discussion and not in League section). Not my fault someone couldn't be bothered to make a post once in a while and had to go and create a League of his own that has no restrictions.
Last time I checked rules are quite useful. And if the League is comprised only of people that can be actually called forumers, it makes the competition a lot less likely to contain someone who cheats, in any form. Doesn't seem to be the case with the other league from what I've seen so far.

If people prefer the other league over this one, I have no issue with shutting down the League altogether. I've made it for forumers, not for myself. So just say the word chaps. If it's not needed, then it goes "poof".
