Yep, Kit cars are epic to drive in rain in Wales.

But naturally I just had to mess around and crash in quite few spots. If it weren't for the reset and a tree on the 7th stage, I may have been in shot of getting the lead out of Snaky's clutch, but that didn't happen and my off on the very first corner on the 4th stage basically killed it for me. Still, 2nd place is good.

As to Pikes Peak, well, I think most here know my response to that. QUATTRO POWAHHHHHH!!! :D

A few ups and a few too many downs in Wales. SS2 was particularly bad, SS4 also. Two or three resets in those stages and in SS6 I got stuck while taking a hairpin and had to reverse. A late push secured third place which will be fourth (again and again and again) if @Dytut finishes.

The whole season I struggled to find the right rhythm. When I drove cleanly, I was too slow, when i tried to push I sooner or later made mistakes. On the other hand, with the exception of Greece, my average was about two minutes slower than first place. A few months ago, that would have been a great result. So, if I continue with this rate of progress, I estimate I will be fighting for wins in season 15. Keep it coming!

I got home sooner than expected tonight, and managed to squeeze in Wales. Tired and unfocused after the weekend, so a great deal of mistakes.
SS1 was a spin and a reset, so way behind. SS2 I was just a few seconds off, so was OK. SS3 I actually won by a second or so.
SS4-SS6 was in shambles. Decently fast, but mistakes galore. Think I haa 3 resets, and lost one minute in total on those three stages.
Decided to shake it off and just go as fast as I could for SS7 and SS8, just to redeem myself. Did some mistakes (and a reset) on SS8 (lost 7 seconds I think), which was fine.
But SS7 was one of my best runs ever. It felt good when I drove it, and I thought I had at least won the stage. Was dumbfounded to see that I had actually won the stage by 28 seconds... which turned out to be 11th overall for the stage on the new leaderboards, just one seconds behind @Porkhammer :-)

I'm taking the feel of that stage with me into the next season :-)

And a huge gratulation to @RyuMakkuro for the well deserved season win. Big credit to @Snaky115 for the silver as well!
Hope I can nibble at your heels a bit next season aswell :-)

Season 8 has come to an end. First 3 events brought 3 completely different winners and by the 4th event it was anyone's guess on who could win it. @Dytut was definitely the rising star of this season, having definitely surprised me with a very good performance throughout the entire season.
However I did manage to extend my 1 point lead in Germany by enough to make sure that a 2nd place in last event would guarantee me victory. Which means it came down to Wales yet again.
And the fighting for the "worse position", as the 4th is often called was also quite intense. Only 6 points separating 4th from 5th, shows that in the next season not only the podium fight but the lower ones are going to be interesting as well.
At the end though @Dytut didn't post consistent enough times to beat me while @Snaky115 needed more than just victory in Wales to claim the championship title. All did their best and for once, it seems like even though we had massive mistakes, we actually all enjoyed Wales. And on that bombshell, let's move to the rankings and podium.

1st: @RyuMakkuro  108
2nd: @Snaky115      94
3rd: @Dytut              88
4th: @YoMrWhite     58
5th: @BadD0g         52

Naturally, with the latest update to Pikes Peak, I think it's more than obvious what is going to be happening while the voting is happening :D Ah yes, the magical time when everyone is hoping for the chosen vote to be something else and no one is voting for the only choice that is way too obvious xD In any case, here are the themes for this season:
- "Shaken, not Smoked"
- Back to school
- Chinese copy or Jeep mini van?

Voting lasts till the end of the Pikes Peak event.

And naturally, the medals:

Congrats to everyone! Time to relinquish my 3rd place badge. It was fun while it lasted.

I'm going to be away from the computer for all of next week, so I'll be missing a couple of events. If you deem my vote worthy regardless, I choose Chinese copy or Jeep mini van because I can't figure out what it means and I MUST KNOW!

No need to relinquish it. It's like a medal. Once you earn one, you keep it forever :p So you can stack them ;)

Also... I didn't thought that this one would bring so much trouble in figuring out xD Then again, I know what it is so my opinion here is highly non objective.

I *think* I know what it means, but I'm not sure. Maybe it'll come to me, and I realize how oblivious I was. ;)

I can keep the medal? Yay! I'll have to add some text specifying the season. Hopefully that won't be a pain to format.

A certainly interesting season. Forgotten most of it due to some school struggles at the time, so was happy to drive the Ibiza for an extended period.
Nice to see Dytut rise! Yay! Gratz to others for trying!

The Vote? Hmm.. The only one that has quotes.. "Shaken, not Smoked" !
The "Jeep Mini van" raises suspicions and ideas so i want to avoid it, even though it is possibly a car i have a custom livery on. >_>

An Edit for Pikes:
Well... Something went wrong. I did a practice run, familiarized myself with the car and... retired twice in a row. Somehow.

Was great fun to be able to at least threaten you up there in the top :-) Still working on getting my "safe" level faster, but was inspiring to see that when I pushed I was actually fast.

My vote is for chinese copy/jeep mini van, since I have no idea what it could be. (But I will always have a silent vote for Mad at Front. Forever.)

Well, I managed to score a nice 8:09 on Pikes Peak. I do love the Quattro with my setup, the car feels so planted and agile now after the last update I can't express how much I love that car now, especially on the full tarmac. I wish I could do some Monte Carlo with it as well :D

Is it just me, or did the results of the last round not figure in the final standings? Maybe some racenet bug, I witnessed that in another league as well. It wouldn't have changed the positions, though.

Anyway, to next season. My vote goes to Chinese copy or Jeep mini van. Like @Dytut and @BadD0g, I'm curious. I got a slight hunch what it may be.

Nope, final standings are accurate. I didn't had over 100 points when we started Wales. So it is just you :p

Voting so far:
- "Shaken, not Smoked" - 1
- Back to school - 0
- Chinese copy or Jeep mini van? - 3

I had five fourth places and one fifth place. That should be 70 points. Therefore I'm sure the last event didn't count towards the final results - for all of us of course. Fortunately it didn't mess up the standings.

In other news, I found PP quite a nice experience this time. I drive it very seldom, so I can't really say what exactly has changed, but I had more control over the car than usual.

Did a fun test run with the 205 up pikes peak with very open diffs. Was surprised that I was actually pretty quick for being me :-)

I did my runs in the Quattro (as did almost everyone else apparently). I did a practice first to get used to the new downforce, which feels much better on tarmac now. Feels more like a car and less like a sled. The first run went fairly smoothly, with one little goof on a hairpin. The second run wasn't so good, I hid a spectator and then a tree shortly after, so I abandoned it.

Almost like mine, just I had a spin on the downhill braking followed by a hit on the bank which resulted with the good ol' puncture. I almost missed those... keyword being "almost".

If my vote still counts considering I won't be playing for the next months probably, I'd go with the Chinese one. Sounds funky.
Also I have a feeling that Back to School will be Mad at Front's less successful brother, like what Henning is to Petter.

Unfortunately due to the standings bug in the League, I have no way to check who finished on what position, so I can't come up with the standings graphics this time. Sorry.

The theme for this season will be "Chinese copy or Jeep mini van?". If someone wants a quick explanation of the thought process behind this one, just ask. The season will go live in 4h 57 minutes from the moment I posted this.

We all have heard about the C4's suspension ( :D ) , though i am wondering what exactly is going on with the Chinese Copy shtick, other than there being Ford plants in China.

It showed me in 3rd for Pikes, I know that's not right. I was 2nd to last when I finished my run, I think it was 5th?, So yeah, that was definitely broken.

As I predicted, since I'll be gone all week I'll be missing a few events. I might be able to do the first one today, but we'll see.

Yes, so C4's suspension is basically the main thing behind calling C4 a Jeep, and the fact it's shape is very reminiscent of that of a mini-van... well, self-explanatory.

As to the Chinese copy" being Ford, well, when Chinese copy something, it usually reminds of a certain car but with some slight... variations. Focus '07 has actually a 3D model from at least '08 WRC one (can be '09 and '10 as well), it has 6-speed gear box instead of 5 and the engine characteristics are more of a Cosworth engine which was in 1st gen Focus, rather than a Duratec engine which was in it and was known for insane amount of torque (which it doesn't have in-game).
This one was more for the Gossip skill rather than "how often you visit Daily thread" xD

If the Racenet will continue it's downtime through the first two days of the Season, I propose a restart of it, so that no one is being punished simply because their time schedule would not allow to do it in the last 24 hours of the Monte Carlo event.
