DiRT Rally - Found a Winter Wonderland/Version 1.0 bug? Post it here!

Recommended Posts

That's interesting...I've been put backwards in stages after quiting Monthly Event through Esc > Save and quit..

Is that some new planned behaviour for Save and Quit (4 stages backwards)?

Well...quited with ALT+F4 cause thought maybe this will be some save game bug.
Now I'm back in 1st stage. It's definetely on purpose or some serious bug.

They talked about adding "checkpoints" like you describe to work around the Alt-F4 exploit in the Dirt Rally Show this week, is it already implemented?

It seems it may have slipped somehow...I've seen some reports people being backwarded in monthly event but i thought they had some game save issue. Now I get it.

But in current state it's definetely bugged, because loading an event and quiting it without starting also causes the backward penalty as I'll call it now. It can't be this way because we can't quit without loading, so you'll always lose 2 stages when quiting an event between service areas.

I'll run a test 1st stage in monthly event (I even can go a shakedown again) and then quit it on purpose, let's so what happens.

----

Edit:
I am 100% sure, ESC > save & quit causes you two go at least two stage backwards. It seems to also have an effect from the menu before starting a stage (i.e. service area)

P.S. I like the concept, just some warning on Yes / Cancel would be nice ;)

-- EDIT 2
My car is crashed from 1st stage, lol. Even on shakedown it was crashed. This is definetely the checkpoint thing online :)

  • I'm having issues with the Video resolution reverting to single-screen mode if alt-tabbing to adjust controller settings.  Triples using Nvidia surround in "Windowed mode" - it worked fine prior to 1.0. Accessing SC4 settings via alt-tab requires "Windowed Mode".
  • Also, SimCommander4 is losing the telemetry signal after one play session. The AccuForce and SimVibe stop working with DR only.    I have confirmed that the hardwareconfig xml-file is properly setup. This began after changing sound output from flat to Headphones and may also be tied to the Video-resolution issue.

Well that simcommader part is interesting one. In similar fashion to you losing telemetry data, after one play session i always lose FFB info or it kind of gets muddy and less precise. Also my fps starts to drop (and drops from there). I have simcommander4 on my computer, but have not used it with DR yet. I have changed my sound output many times and it is intresting that could that have part in my problem too. Or could that Simcommander be a part of problem somehow? (i had stuttering issues from 0.6 and this new problem after 0.9). I might be overthinking this though...
Finally, someone else with a similar issue! :) Sorry, for my excitement, I thought I was losing it.  Unfortunately, the time required to perform a complete reset of the SC4 profile for each play session makes DR unplayable right now. It just means jumping through too many hoops to get everything working. There is no sign of progress from SimXperience  yet either.

Hopefully, a solution can be found but, it seems to be affecting very few people so I'm not holding my breath. Can you guess what I'd like for Xmas? :)

Best of luck with a solution to your issue, please do respond if you learn of anything.
I also thought that, am i really the only one with these problems? "Nice" to hear i am not!

Somethings to concider (in my case)
-I have found threads with similar problems concerning other CM games
-i do have maybe a rather problematic RAM setup. Two different ram pairs (to get 8 gigs). Do i get memoryleaks maybe? And it is said that in 0.8 devs made changes how replays are done now using RAM
- i cant wrap my head around the fact that, why on earth everything works with out my wheel? it is probably my biggest question mark
-worst thing for me is to leave game idle for a while (framerate drop to 5 fps). Normally i have almost one stage or say 5 mins time before problems arise if i go to playing straight and don't go to menus while driving.
-i have not tested every possible solution yet

I will respond if i find a real solution or even any hope, i hope you will do the same

Cheers, and happy holidays!

I am using obviously the latest version of the game. I am on a laptop with Nvidia GTX850m - game runs fine and never had this problem before. Please help - I can provide more info if needed.

Yeah, your issue seems RAM / Memory related whereas mine has been hard to nail down as there are almost no comparable cases on record.  I will re-test possible USB connection issues and try the new OS once in place. It's either USB, OS, Sound-card, Game, or SC4 related; simple! :)
Best wishes for a solution to your issue.

Cheers and Happy Holidays too.

I was driving the ford focus 2001, Algsjon Sprint at night/overcast and when i crossed the finish line I kept going. Just wouldn't let the satge finish
I just encountered this.
I was doing the Open class Rally Championship in the Mini Cooper S.
Algsjon was the first stage of the last event for the Open class.
I forgot to note the weather setting but it was either morning or afternoon sunny.

split times still appear in the centre of the screen obscuring the track , please adjust it to higher up the screen for next update .. good work on 1.0
I agree with Border, please move it somewhere, anywhere, left or right, higher or lower.

This issue needs to be fixed asap, it's a serious issue. I was on the 20th stage but now I'm already on the 14th or 15th stage.

This. Or just have an option to turn of split times (separately from the timers)

Got to the end of Stor-Jangen Sprint, but the stage didn't end. Sometimes I like to crash into the finish blocks head on and I did on this occasion, dunno if that had something to do with it. But it reset the car past the finish blocks and would let me keep driving a little to the tent. And then reset the car back where it reset it the first time.

Yeah it is anoying.
Looks like they wanted to give us more choices when setting up a season but forgot to adjust the racenet website for that.

I see that currently you can't check your time and position in chart at DiRTGame.com. Previously you've had a circle that you could hover and it would display a tooltip with a time + global position. I think it might be a bug cause legend for that didn't disappear.
EDIT: Seems to be working again today.

Also:

You can't see your friends results in Online events.
Steps to reproduce:
Finish an event,
Go to Online Events
Click Event Standings
Choose Show Friends
You're alone

Happy New Year Codies and everyone in love with this game
wow love this game very much!!!!! but after 1.02  hmmm
lets start
1 can not run rally cross offline at all
2 whats with the fake pace note calls that have been added ? i would rather have missing calls! its like i recorded the missing calls and added them in the game myself it destroy's the realism big time with bland laid back different volume level added calls !!!
3 50-70% of finland co driver is not in 5.1 i.e his voice is not from center speaker but front left/right not like all other tracks again game destroying!!!
4 fix the online league functions please, also option to add time penalties would be great over deducting points (better handicap option against alien drivers)
please dont rush pc release or dlc until bugs are fixed (i know its time and money but some things will kill this game) and screw consoles till pc is fixed otherwise people are gonna laugh at the finished product when they should not because like i say this is amazing/beautiful game well done all involved but please clean up before release

Going to copy this into here - I think I've found something interesting that I don't think anyone's touched upon. The cars have an absolute ton of sideforce, meaning you can chuck them into corners with reckless abandon without consequence, and I feel like this is why many feel like DiRT Rally has too much grip. I made a short video to demonstrate:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxdqxau4ugw

In the first clip, I feel the car continuing to rotate through the air is spot on (same with all examples), however the actual trajectory of the flight changes with it and the car is pulled in to the right. I should have continued in the same direction I was travelling in when I took off, landing somewhere near the Finnish flag on the left (sorry speccies!) and most likely falling off the left side of the stage.

I then hucked a few cars off the large jump in Baumholder to demonstrate this force clearly. It's noticeable in the 106 and the Polo (the Polo somewhat less so, but it is still there) but the most extreme example is the Peugeot 205 which goes absolutely flying off to the side.

In all of these situations, any influence on the car's direction of travel should have stopped the moment the wheels left the ground. So in the Baumholder examples, I feel that I should have continued flat-spinning more or less in the direction of the road (whether or not the car would roll in reality is another story, not so relevant for this particular discussion). The spin of the car is spot on, in my view, but the way it curves in the air like a baseball is plain weird.

It may seem a minor complaint, but I personally feel this force all the time whether I'm on the ground or in the air. On certain stages (I'm not good with stage names off the top of my head, but particular corners in Wales come to mind) there are sharp turns you can just chuck the car into and it sticks. I feel like fixing this issue would lead to a radical improvement in how the cars handle.

@jamielowesdev @KickUp @Hatward

That's a pretty nice demo vid of this, it does explain some of the really fast times posted by some drivers.

On a League I drive in, it hasn't recorded my time for the 1st stage, my name didn't appear, & had a 22 min cumulative time by the end of stage2 (2 3min sprint stages).
