DiRT Rally - Found a Winter Wonderland/Version 1.0 bug? Post it here!

Going to copy this into here - I think I've found something interesting that I don't think anyone's touched upon. The cars have an absolute ton of sideforce, meaning you can chuck them into corners with reckless abandon without consequence, and I feel like this is why many feel like DiRT Rally has too much grip. I made a short video to demonstrate:

Maybe not to that extent, but couldn't the rotation of the wheels affect the filgt path? There ar RC planes, and I think even some full sized ones, that used spinning cylinders as wings, using a property called the Magnus effect. Wheels are basically spinning cylinders. Of  course, it wouldn't make the car fly, but maybe it has some effect.

Fairly certain that's physically impossible for a rally car. The wheels are just too small and light in relation to the chassis. I can say this with confidence as I've been a great fan of Monster Jam since I was small, and there you have four 66x43" 800lb gyroscopes fully exposed and I've never observed the Magnus effect changing the flight path of one. So rally cars have no chance!

That said, the wheels can still affect the car in terms of pitch. I remember Travis Pastrana's world record jump at the start of 2010, where he tagged the handbrake towards the end of the arc and the nose dipped substantially. DiRT Rally sadly doesn't model this (it would be a welcome addition!) but RBR and rFactor did, it's a lot of fun to do. But that's the extent, in my view, of how the wheels can affect things in midair; this Magnus effect actually affecting the car's flight path doesn't seem plausible to me. And that's even very slightly, let alone to the extent I show in my video.

 It's better not to consider the Magnus Effect, we're not talking about external ballistics! 

After some hard testing and a lot of cars totally destroyed I've realized that all my cars flies straight as a line...

Edit: the engine of this game considers the aerodynamics?

I don't like how DR launches in this weird squished window on my new computer even though it's set to launch full screen.

They've known about it since the v2 physics were released (hopefully before too, as I would assume testers were/are doing their job). xkevlarx posted a clip of him hooking/slicing the mk2 on the yellow house jump in finland.

As far as pitching the car during a jump, it's hit and miss. I haven't run the '01 Focus in a while, but the last time I did, you could not pitch the car at all. However, the Fiesta behaved as it should when braking or accelerating right before a jump. I'm sure there are other cars affected by this, but whether the issues with v2 physics get sorted in DR's lifetime, who knows and I think kinda unlikely.

Ford Fiesta has this 1 pixel wide hole under windscreen: (I guess texture is transparent in this place and should be black as the rubber).


Happens on 1st and Black livery, didnt tested any other.

It happens when I click anywhere after launching the game from Steam, Would be awesome if it got fixed.
Also controller won't work if it's plugged in after game starts.

Press Windows icon (left one between ctrl and alt probably) and arrow up. The window will maximize. Then click left alt + enter. No need to go into options mate ;)

I have tried alt+enter, but without maximizing the window first - didn't work. I'll try your way today.

I can't agree more with you.
We broke of the season for this.
But as the priority of CM is at getting the game on console I am affraid a fix for this might take awhile.

Not sure if mentioned before but I cannot switch on/off light when I want - I assigned the keys on the wheel and nothing happens....same goes for wipers I think.

You have to switch to Manual Wipers first in Preferences. Remember they'll stop working on watersplashes, etc. - you'll have to wipe the windscreen manually.

Also the buttons won't do anything on the start line, until you begin driving (last I checked). That wasn't originally the case, so hopefully that will be fixed.

Couldn't find the latest discussion so I'll post it here.
Not sure if this is affecting all cars but MG is affected.
Brake is not working when reverse gear + throttle is applied. Only audio works. The brake is really braking when you get the foot out of throttle completely.
That's why I almost always crash when reversing.

I think 1st gear also works differently then it was - it's stopping the car and keeping the throttle at 3/4 available RPMs. I'm using sequential + clutch override.

I had a unusual bug yestaerday at monthly - after service area I hit continue and the car landed (literally) at the start line and I got the message that I jumpstarted the stage.

Weekly and montly event's checkpoint system has one disadvantage - if you check the time before uploading the result and the game crashes with error 41 you end up repeating last two stages.

Would it be possible to apply AUTOMATIC, INSTANT time upload to Racenet after crossing the finish line instead of uploading after clicking continue for the first time?

1. Yesteday at owner's daily I did shakedown and when finished the image freezed and there was sound in the background. Had to kill the game.

2. Another bug that is happening from time to time in the leagues explained by the screens:

3. Last, but not least I can't upload any setup to workshop - I either have code 41 error (just like when you have too much workshop items but I am sure I am not overlimit) or there is Steam community screen poping up with the error message saying that the content was removed or no longer exists (I can't remember exact wording).

Software firewall, Versedi?  Also, i can force error 41 with high resolutions and using too much VRAM.

Nope.

I think I've reproduced this issue but that's an edge case as hell.
My ISP forces me to change my IP address and reconnect every 24 hours.
The moment it occured was exactly between stages so probably I was without internet connection for a few minutes and after that I was with a different IP address (probably somehow unauthenticated from Racenet or something). 

PS. Software/firewall same from first day of EA, we can scratch that off cause I know how to use such things (I'm often checking my internet traffic with various sofwares, I'm pretty much a nerd). 

PS2. This edge case could occur in 80% of polish market everyday (this ISP is a monopolist).
