Missing Steering Wheel in Lancia Stratos

Recommended Posts

I have a weird problem in that no matter what I do I cannot get Dirt Rally to display a steering wheel inside the cabin of the Lancia Stratos. Every other car in the game is fine and displays a steering wheel but not the Stratos. In the Game Preferences area of the Profile, I have made sure the option for Cockpit Driver & Wheel is set to enabled (and it must be working as all other cars show the steering wheel). I have tried setting this option to disabled and all the other cars then show no Steering Wheel just the rack like the Stratos does for me, but switch it back to enabled and again all cars show a steering wheel but not for the Lancia Stratos.

It's not a big problem I realise but it is my favourite car to drive in the game and just doesn't have the right feel without the wheel.

I have deleted and reinstalled Dirt Rally twice now and still the problem persists. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this.

After some investigation I have found what I believe is the culprit. In a file named cameras.xml in the folder for the Stratos config (\Steam\SteamApps\common\DiRT Rally\cars\models\str) I have found the following string

dash-cam dash-cam_reverse DisableSteeringWheel

in the cameras.xml files from all the other cars the string just says dash-cam dash-cam_reverse

I cannot however just delete the DisableSteeringWheel from this string as when I do the game crashes when I try and start a rally.

I can copy a cameras.xml file from one of the other car folders into the Startos directory and it does work - I can see the steering wheel - but the driver position is completely wrong.

Can someone please post the cameras.xml file from their \Steam\SteamApps\common\DiRT Rally\cars\models\str\ folder so I can try.

Thanks in advance.
