I still don’t get why so many people apparently want to drive an F1 car round a track at 50mph before and after a race. Most of the real drivers hate the formation and warm-down laps and just want to get on with the race/podium/going home, so why does everyone think it’d be such a great addition to the game?

Just my opinion on this, Because right now it feels like you're just being thrown into race with no time to prepare, or anything. The same way the end of the race just feels like you're being ripped out of the game. You can't really enjoy a race win.

Also, a warm-up lap could introduce a new game mechanic, like warming up your tyres, so you're well or ill prepared for the start.

I don't get why some want cool down laps because as you said, it's just a slow lap to the pits. CM could possibly add this when you win the championship as then it might be slightly more fun and create a unique finish to the season.
As for warm up laps, I feel it's much more important than just "drive an F1 car round a track at 50mph". The whole point on the formation lap is to heat up your tyres to the optimal temperature so you would get a better start. It would be realistic to add this feature to the game.

Because its realistic and f1 games need to be as realistic as possible
Duh

Got to agree with this. I have gone back to F1 2013 and I think that game has a far more polished race start/finish setup to it. You start off in the garage, you can access  and tweak your race strategy and (ehem), "check the weather" in prep for your race and then drive out of the garage before the game cuts to the grid, ready for the start. no corny "Toy Story" like cut scene and on with the race. Same at the end, why do we need that phony Champagne cut scene with more "Toy Story" like characters.

Maybe you guys dont like all my wishes but it should be an option though. If you dont want a formation lap then skip it or something. Its a simulator game so you want it to be a realistic as possible.

Most drivers also hate penaltys and crashes, but you dont seem to disagree on that wish.  It is about how realistic it is. Also if that includes a drive through or a stop 'n go. And also if that includes a formation lap.

It should be a possibility, so you can choose if you want to do it or not.

I expect the pattern of prior games to continue: significant game-impacting bugs/issues at launch, followed by months of waiting for fixes/patches, accompanied by dissatisfied customers being mocked & harassed by defensive apologists.

I'd sure love to be wrong about that.

The car setup settings need to be more dynamic for 2016 and should be tailored for each team. It's highly unrealistic to be running 1-1 front/rear wings,  min camber, max toe, max suspension, min anti roll for pretty much all races.  I'm pretty sure F1 teams don't set the car up this way.

A warm up lap would defo be a good thing as it can affect how good or bad a race start is with either hot or cold tyres. i think a cool down lap would get old very quick but maybe nice at home gp or last race of the season for a few doughnuts. Also would be good if there was things like engine/gear box wear and tear so you have to conserve the car throughout the season or risk penalties. Red flags and Safety car would be excellent as well adding to the immersion. It still baffles me how things like this were left out, as with career mode. It would be great to see custom teams, this was added to one of the Moto GP games and I think it was one of the best features in the game nothing adds to the feeling of achievement like taking your own car/team from the bottom to the top. With career mode they also need to make it LONG like 10 season and let cars/drivers change around through-out the career the worst thing with the careers on previous models is ever year the same team and drivers are in the same positions. I mean I don't expect to see Mercedes suddenly at the back with Manor winning a title but small jumps and dips in form and drivers switching teams. Maybe adding GP2 drivers to come to replace some of the old. Also with career mode like championship edition adding a test driver position so you could make a decision to be test driver for Ferrari rather then second driver and Sauber.
